x X x X x X x X x b
x X x X x X x X x a
x X x X x X x X x b
x X x X x X x X x a
x X x X x X x X x b

Fall in York Beach

The cold, sombre, purple skies of fall
Are memories precious to all now.
The screaming of children playing ball
Replaced by gulls foraging for chow,
In white capped surf that covers all
And crashing waves that dig and plough.
No crusted bread torn and fed by hand
Or peanut-butter mixed with sand.

Abracadabra

She always made me laugh when I was sad,
She’d sing a funny song and hold me tight,
She never made fun of my woes, but had
A way of making everything all right.
I understand the reason why my Dad
Always loved her so much, she was his light.
It’s still the same after so many years,
She knows exactly how to still my fears.

-----

Bound

We fall in love and dream of glorious things,
For being in love makes us feel so good;
But it’s not every time that our heart sings
We find ourselves in places where we should
Be; and each choice we make comes with its strings;
At least that much is known and understood.
We select cords to cut, others to tie,
Choose when to say ‘hello’ or wave ‘goodbye’.

-----

Dance 'til Dawn

We really did dance all that night,
Up until the dawn was breaking;
And it had been a wondrous sight
To watch the sun gently making
Its presence seen, shedding its light,
And to watch the world awaking.
Memories like this one will stay
In my heart ‘til my dying day.

-----

In the Dark

There’s a blackout for miles around tonight,
A transformer I think it was that blew,
So I’m scribbling po’try by candlelight,
It seems to be the natural thing to do;
But since oftimes I can’t read what I write,
I pray that this time that will not be true.
If I can read them remains to be seen,
If not they go straight into File Thirteen!

-----

Laughter II

Laughter is born within your eyes
from seed once sown by lover’s hand;
its birth is painless, without lies,
yet tears might flow from inner glands.
Freely given, it multiplies,
yet can’t be summoned on command.
While belly-laughter shakes out pain,
a little smile wipes off old strain.

-----

Live and Learn

May I never lose the gift of laughter,
Even when times are rough let me still smile;
Although there is no ‘forever after,’
Let me be grateful for ‘a little while.’
And as I approach the closing chapter
Of my life, let it be with grace and style.
I’ve had my fill of happiness and tears
Let humour reign through the remaining years.

-----

Live, Laugh, Love

The deck of cards handed by fate
Can be for games that we don’t know,
But then it is never too late
To take a chance, to learn and grow;
An opportunity too great
For us to ignore or to blow.
Though mere pilgrims passing this way,
It’s worth our while to learn to play.

-----

Multitasking

I’m being pulled every which way
, A hand, two legs, a listening ear,
“Give us a break,” they seem to say,
‘There is only one ‘you’ we fear,
With not enough time in each day,
And when it’s your turn who will care?”
My heart is big enough I know
But no more arms or legs will grow.

An octopus would work out well,
A multi-headed hydra too,
A centipede, that would be swell,
A kind of mini mobile zoo;
A special kind of clock to tell
The things that I have yet to do.
I can do no more than my best
And God will take care of the rest.

-----

Priceless

A steaming cup of Milo in the morn,
My mother’s lovely, ageless, smiling face,
Two little puppies not long ago born,
Forever on the go; I watch them race
Around; and although they have chewed up, torn
So many things, they’ve claimed their rightful place.
These simple pleasures I enjoy each day,
I have been blessed what more is there to say?

Surrounded by people I know and love,
Who have been at my side through thick and thin,
Family, friendships that fit like a glove,
They know me from without and from within;
Ready to deter or give me a shove
As they see fit, that’s how it’s always been.
My life has been enriched because of them,
Each one in his own way a precious gem.

-----

Republic Day

Today we celebrate Republic Day,
Our final severing from foreign rule,
Our citizens now had the final say
With this the latest political tool.
We had now jumped fully into the fray,
With piranhas and goldfish in one pool.
What happened to the dreams we held so dear,
Most have vanished like smoke into thin air.

-----

Soggy Prayer

A wet and gloomy day, it’s pouring rain
Two loved ones gone to take medical tests;
The weather a reflection of the train
Of my thoughts. I’ve made so many requests
Of Him., I hope that He’ll listen again,
For I must be one of His greatest pests.
If You can hear me Lord I pray today
Please let the ones that I love be okay.

-----

Unbound

Not easy to undo knots though they’re slack,
To accept change although it’s for the best,
No piece of cake to walk off, turn our back
On things once shared, though we know we must; lest
We suffer more: but humans have the knack
Of picking up the pieces though we’re stressed.
The ties I have are all the ones I need
And now when warning bells ring I pay heed.

Designs

Mosaic patterns by leaves that fall
Brighten the parched earth from summers heat
A silent signal noticed by all
Crisp autumn air and apples picked sweet
Beneath moonlight the owls do call
As lovers engage their own beat
Piles of leaves and giggles can be heard
Above the mating songs of birds

Dancing To The Music

I woke up from your marvelous sweet gentle kisses
Your kisses so delicately had covered me every where
Tonight we’ll dance together as Mister and Misses
Our Love was flowing rhythmically through the air
We danced to our favorite stylish cherished reminisces
Performing, enjoying each loving style with a loving stare
Laying snuggled, sweet kisses good night completing
For tomorrow is waiting for loving urges worth repeating

-----

Grave Yard

I entered the grave yard where so many are dead
Passing by, reading the etchings on their stones
Many people to numerous to count, sad what etchings said
Leprosy caught up to me, I’ve found my lovers stone
Opened the lid; got inside with him and the webs spiders had webbed
I’ve waited to die and be together eternally in our grave full of bones
I suffer no more, fear no more, and will rest forever more
In the arms of the man, now decomposed; I’ll love ceaselessly more

-----

Last Chance for Romance

Soft touches from you, speaks ever so clear. Whispered words roll off your lips, sincere. At the end of the evening we laugh and play. Encumbered with Love at the end of each day. Friendship between us throughout the years. Embracing each laughter and saddened tears. Love brought on by secrets and by fears. No one shall break our midnight trance. We’ve on our way to a last chance romance

Evening Thoughts

As twilight begins to dim the evening sky
You hear the birds giving their final calls
In between the trees echoing daytime’s sigh
Seeing shadows lengthen as suns light falls
Finally the sun sets and we see the day die
It is then daytime scene becomes black walls
All references change to become those of night
And tactile senses replace those of sight.

-----

I Conjure you II

I conjure you more beautiful than night
Dancing in the flashing residue of dreams.
Once again taking me to pleasures height
Like the trembling rush of summer streams.
Beauty lasting through dawn into days light
Realising finally what true beauty means
Springing not from desire, that’s wild in kind,
But a gentle content growing in my mind.

-----

Keys of Love

Thy flowing juices of which I sup so avidly
From that sacred spot used for our pleasure
For in that flow sourced I may add my key
This night a mine of passioned endeavour
For in that keyhole I will work so wantonly
Nor leave thee whilst thou art wanting more
So in a given time from thee as heaven pours
I will add my simple gift of love to yours.

-----

Nature Rules

The waves break on the shore a reminder.
That in time we come and later we go,
The sea will shape the earth and find her
Compliant to the way she has to grow
And the constancy of the sea is kinder
Because the sea has a more certain flow.
But still man denies this in his conceit
Nature knows and shows he can be beat.

-----

Needs

The thing I long for is to be touched by you
And in return I will kiss you a thousand times
A poor exchange for such a wondrous view
And anything less would simply be a crime.
Without that touch I will be forever blue
But with it everything becomes sublime.
My needs are simple a kiss, a touch, whenever
And in return I promise to love you forever.

-----

New Sky

Someone left a clipped fingernail hanging
On a velvet sky, pretending to be a moon.
Wrinkled trees stand there branches moaning
Feet buried in dirt hoping rain will come soon.
Old cotton dressed like fog slows down driving
Except for the red, hot car driven by the hoon
Rich man and poor man slowly creep forward
And for that, a day of toil is there only reward.

Unseen is the shimmering fog bank of the bay
But above that morning mist there is still sky
Through them still seeing stars shimmer and sway
Like diamonds across rich breasts catching the eye
And once seen, unable to drag the eyes ever away
Till honking horns and flashing bring back reality
. The north wind stirs up and burns away the cotton
All to soon, reality takes over, fantasies forgotten.

-----

Surrender

Surrender to me it has become the day
I bid thee seek not dreams this time, merely stand
I shall take thee with me and show thee the way
Perhaps from time to time I may take your hand
Meaning it two fold, that also asks “Please stay”
These are not words I speak light, they are real
Serving in some minor way, telling how I feel.

Surrender to me it has become the night
Is not night the time for lovers and dreams?
Together we will love and plan till morning light
My reward is your smile and loving eyes gleams.
And when the moon and stars then take to flight
We close our eyes for a while forgetting schemes.
While bodies rest our souls will soar into the sky
And make their plans for the rest of Eternity.

Breath of Life-Tadăsana

As feet lock firmly to the earth,
strong flows of energy transcend;
they travel upward to give birth
as Kundalini’s snake ascends.
Her rising wakens inner worth,
while mind-heart-soul seek threefold blend.
Between my feet and high-held crown,
the breath of life flows up and down.

-----

Breathing

I breathe along a silver line,
born deep within my pelvic bowl;
it travels upwards in my spine,
connecting chakras' farthest poles.
My body is a living shrine
to worship Thee, my inner soul.
On breathing in, my chest expands-
the air flows out on silver strands.

As waves of breathing follow tides,
I'm anchored safely in Thy core-
my mortal vessel floats and rides
until life's sea brings it ashore.
My trust is in the Self that guides
as long my soul keeps in rapport-
when breathing in, I'm filled with peace,
on letting go, follows release.

-----

Broken Wings

The door has fallen shut on you
and though you tried to find the key,
you carelessly forgot your cue,
forsook the precious guarantee
of selfless love you could accrue.
You’re left with crumbling trust’s debris.
Life’s offered chances, when not clasped,
are grains of sand, avoiding grasp.

-----

Dancing

I watch bold, swaying trees incite,
when with a belly dancer’s grace
they swing their branches left to right.
As she will move round hips in lace,
her black-veiled arms raised in the night,
the trees now dance at fevered pace.
At last both wind and music fade-
an end is put to dance well made.

-----

Isles of White

As isles of white float in blue seas,
my thoughts drift in a single queue
until they’re scattered by chant’s breeze-
swift bird-wings bring them home to you.
While daytime dreams may hold the keys
to future roads we might pursue,
our nighttime dreams are spun from thread,
once twined together, will not shred.

-----

Laughter II

Laughter is born within your eyes
from seed once sown by lover’s hand;
its birth is painless, without lies,
yet tears might flow from inner glands.
Freely given, it multiplies,
yet can’t be summoned on command.
While belly-laughter shakes out pain,
a little smile wipes off old strain.

-----

On Coloured Wings

On coloured wings my dreams take flight;
soaring above soft sky-ships’ flocks,
they travel through the moonlit night.
As gates to heart’s desire unlock,
my blood sings with increased delight-
sweet passion’s waves break on hard rock.
Into the stillness of love’s lake,
the mountain sends its thrilling quake.

-----

Suns Kiss

My skin still tingles from Sun’s kiss,
his loving warmth fulfilled my dreams.
As each new touch prolongs hot bliss,
my body opens to bold beams.
His golden orb I’d hate to miss,
I am enfolded in strong streams.
My lover holds me in his arms-
I can’t resist his ardent charms.

-----

Unraveling

Unraveling the knots that tied
our threads of life throughout the years,
each separate string acts like a slide-
projecting scenes of joy and tears.
One single golden strand inside,
remains as guide till sorrow clears.
All coloured filaments depict
days in the past, with boxes ticked.

-----

What goes around

You have been in my blood so long,
I find it hard to rinse you out-
in love we blended our song,
now clots of pain obstruct its route.
This gentle stream once flowed so strong,
yet drought prevented future sprouts.
Sweet residues of you remain-
allowing me to love again?

-----

Winter's Eve

In V-formations geese now leave-
dark wings write songs on lilac skies,
cry sad refrains as autumn grieves;
my heart is filled with past goodbyes.
I watch their flight on autumn's eve
and silence grows as honking dies.
Cold emptiness of winter nears
in tasted salt of unshed tears.

A carpet of brown-golden leaves
is being laid on garden's floor.
I hear small sparrows in the eaves
and know my soul will soar once more
when geese return and sky receives
again spring's song, I so adore.
My heart then fills with summer's glow-
cold ice shall melt as trust will grow.

Yoga XV ~ Pativrtta Parsvakonăsana

I am a warrior at heart,
both feet are firmly on the ground.
As centered balance grows from start,
my body slowly twists around;
each muscle stretches to impart
asăna’s knowledge- most profound.
My mind now rests while Prăna flows-
awareness of found freedom grows

Questions

Find me a wall to be a head beater
I’m gonna be a wall bashing screamer
Just what is Iambic Pentameter
What on earth is an Ottava Rima
Something pronounceable would be neater
Who sets the rules…then death to that schemer
Tough luck! I'm told, he is centuries dead
Too late I guess then to chop of his head.

Dances in The Wind

Listening to the wind blowing
Through the trees, buildings and fields,
A hollow sound resonating
Thoughts of you and I, are revealed
Dancing to natures orchestra,
In dreams of dusky lights we yield
This dance in the winds for all time,
In harps mantra heard so sublime.

-----

Last Summer Days

Cool crisp mornings are the days now
As summer fast becomes mem'ry,
But memories are all we know
Like the glass where ourselves we see,
And that's no mystery of old
Just the truth staring back at thee,
Somehow becoming the best way
In spite of all we do or say.

Transformation

In your sun I bask and spread my wings,
left my cocoon, prepare for flight;
as transformation in me sings
I feel your rays of warming light.
Reaching to catch the golden strings
you‘ve sent to me in dance’s rite,
I celebrate my shifting shape,
abandon bonds, I now escape.

-----

Metamorphosis

Your freedom was never a result of me
Your creature state held you in there
Until it was time for you to be “be”
I was merely instrumental because of care
What has happened is you are now free
The butterfly is more beautiful in flight
The final stage when all is right.
