2007 Form Challenges
#3 Dizain

Although the Decastich or Sonnetina is a popular form, this one seems to have become neglected in favour of the others.
This is originally a French form and initially would have been made up of eight syllable lines, but later ten syllable lines were also used. The few examples of this form in England did prefer Iambic Pentameter, but that's purely up to the poet.
The rhyme scheme is: a. b. a. b. b. c. c. d. c. d.
243

Is there anything, anything,
any in the world, in the world
that believes in something, something,
thing that can be uncurled, uncurled
be curled and be refurled, refurled?
O God, touch my bedroll at night,
my cooking fire by each day's light.
Lead me around the world in dreams,
sail my bright yearning, flame-red kite
by a string lighter than it seems.

Catnap

How beautifully she displayed the flowers
Each one gracefully enhanced the bouquet
Even the housecat checked it each hour
If it could speak I'd wonder what it say
As its long whiskers brushed by on the way
To the backyard garden where roses grew
Beneath pine trees arching to a sky blue
He'd carefully step between the new blooms
Settle down take a nap and sleep right through
The wind carrying new scents of perfume

Ryter Roethicle

Arrossisca dei Baci

A blush of kisses shall cover thy body
And dreams shall be thy pillow tonight.
Our beating hearts provide the melody
With a shy new moon to provide the light.
Pleased, that moon will smile at the sight.
Too soon dawn will interrupt our time
Disrupting our spell together so sublime,
And then father sun will enter our site
Together we will watch his daily climb
Anxiously waiting to begin a new night.

Brown Leaves and Faeries Dance

Brown leaves and fairies dance on cool autumn nights
The dance says farewell to that warm blue sky
An end to the smell of herbs and mossie bites
A time for rest for some and others goodbye
Soon it’s winter and some will sleep, others die.
But like the Phoenix out of death comes new life
And new growth and peace emerges out of strife.
Later we will see the new fledglings in flight
And the eagle will soar once again with his wife.
Under green leaves, faeries dance on warm spring nights.

-----

Golden Lord

Listen again as the chorus calls out
At the transition from darkness to light
Hearing the Galahs as they loudly shout
Revelling in the freedom from last night,
And like other avians prepare for flight.
The wakened sun sends out its golden shoots
As scouts leading the way along its route
Heralding the passage of the lord of day
See each dawn the Angels make their salute
Welcoming the Golden One passing by.

-----

Gossip

Does the wind talk with you as you walk along,
Is it your company it seeks, or you it?
Do you whisper secrets in a magic tongue,
Or listen to all sorts of juicy tit bits?
Do you listen to all this then re-submit
Your take, adding or subtracting what you think,
Then walking away leaving her with a wink?
Or did you not hear, too busy lost in thought
The walk serving only to make you think
And the answer came to what you sought.

-----

Hope Eternal

The stillness was devoid of sound
Only the echo of memories remained
Mindful when the darkness surrounds
Of loves absence unexplained
Seemingly easily obtained
One moment in eternity
Left me longing for what could be.
If by chance we should once again meet
Could our longings finally agree
So that our souls could be complete.

-----

Midsummer Night Revisited

Wee creatures play in the shrubbery below
The warm afternoon echoes with happy sounds.
After the rain there is softer golden glow
Faeries thrive and dance, happiness abounds.
Sitting, Oberon surveys his regal surrounds,
Smiling casually reflecting on last night,
And about Titania’s unwilling plight.
Under a spell of his, she loved an ass.
Some women do, often for more than a night
Now regret ever picking up on that pass.

-----

Offers of Love

I have lost all my strength through love of you
Yet I am complete, sturdy and full of desire.
You have awakened my senses, a heady brew
And in me you have created this joyous fire,
Making you the object to which I aspire.
I live for you, and through my love pursue
And what has been concealed I now review
Searching for loves truth even in infinity.
Today I saw your eyes, and in them loves view
Realising there, I saw Eternity.

-----

Question of Blame

What dreams that were born, transpired today?
Do they wait for the wind to whisper their name
Like a supermarket line on a busy day?
Are we all judged and treated the same
Or does that whispering wind play a game?
Is love just a vapour of mystical smoke
And cupids arrow a casual sticks poke?
Does he carefully select a pair and aim
Knowing that true love is never a joke
And in the end he is the one to blame?

-----

Triggered Birdsong

How peaceful it all looks after the rain
The green is green again and not burnt brown.
The flowers are now looking less than plain
Scented as if it were her bridal gown,
The roses appearing like her natural crown.
The avian life finally bursts out songs of joy
Bringing forth revived feelings that we enjoy.
Feelings that remained dormant for so long
Other distractions used soon began to annoy
Triggered instead by a simple birdsong.

-----

Unconditioned

Our bodies and minds conditioned by life
Must show no emotion and our feeling keep,
Offer your heart before love says goodbye.
For too long now, my heart has been asleep
But slowly through joy, I’m learning to weep
And now there is tears my heart is open again.
Not tears or sobs of a heart wrenched in pain
Freedom from letting it out after all these years
Now there is sunshine after all that rain
I hold you and kiss you, removing your fears.

-----

Veteran of Love

The creature within me weeps without being seen
My pain is deep and I would hear laughs of scorn
And derision coming from those “never been’s”
Who have dared naught since the day they were born.
Love is like a rose but best beware the thorn,
But do not drop that gem because of the odd prick
Just be more careful, aye that’s the only trick,
Then you will realise you have a gift from above.
Be honest and faithful and to your love stick,
Take all this advice, from a veteran of love.

-----

Why

Should I measure our time together in years
It would be merely a tic in the face of infinity
I have talked with you and sampled your fears
One hour of that is your pain through eternity
To save you and be with you is where I need to be.
But pain and dreams are not part of life’s plan
Scattered gifts are casually handed out to man
Some have wealth, some luck, and others nought
And some have fortune with labour dearly bought
I have planned and I have wished for some things
And all I planned and wished turned to nought
But those very same wishes made some men kings.

-----

You

You have lit a huge flame inside my heart
Fuelled by desire, pulsing with fever
I am aroused by you, yet fear to start
A sceptic who has become a believer.
I sense you, touch you, and now must forever.
Come dwell with me and share my existence,
Please believe me, for once take a chance.
Open your heart and give yourself to me,
Let my soul touch yours, and then see them dance
And that they will do for all Eternity.

Imaginary

At first there was one only,
But one giant sun of suns
Which exploded cleanly
Into billions more, begun
Like so many rosey runs
Across an emerald sky
Full of dreams that cannot fly
In the face of elements
Beyond the scope of all whys,
Imaginary advents.

-----

Fission

Split apart like an acorn from
It's parent oak tree, a seed
Also cracks the shell to thencefrom
Create new energy and speed
Up life's process to again breed
In circular manner or greed
Of root toward leafy green bower,
The test begins with renewed strength
Released in earthen wraps power
Like atoms colliding in youngth.

-----

Lovely Lindens

If ever there were prettier trees
Then none prettier, Lindens grow.
As I planted and watched them, see,
It came to me that this I know,
Such loveliness they share and show
To all Gods creatures ever born
Angels blessed them and played their horns
Calling all to evince their art,
Flower and berry, not sharp thorn,
Elegant add romance to hearts.

Embracing Your Love

You entered my heart with laughter and joy,
Ignited thoughts once thought loving and kind.
Stimulating, waking Love thoughts destroyed.
Your captivating charm so hard to find,
Your always the main attraction on my mind.
Our souls touched, embracing a new spiritual dance,
You are my love that makes my love stance.
Each day, each night I spend admiring you,
Our hopes, ours dreams swing in intense romance.
Your a friend, a love beyond déjà vu.

-----

Loves Serenade

Awed and awakened to the sound
Of soft flowing words off his tongue
Kissing every word floating ‘round
His love songs wrote, whispered and sung
Masterminded words drift and swung
Loving solitude with his notes
Holding, embracing words he wrote
A phenomenal art displayed
Feeling his love from notes and quotes
Stunned by his truthful; serenade

-----

This Flame

I send you my love tonight from my soul
Wishing you were here to mend and console
My heart feels so empty without you
I feel the darkness of grey and dark blue
The only way to touch you is in my mind
The images are fading and hard to find
The glow from the light is growing quit dim
At this moment it’s looking awfully grim
I am starting to be with alot of doubt
As I sit and watch The flame go out…

Mirror of Senses
Ryter Roethicle

Sight: the first sense:

Your reflection in the window
Each time we pass I look at it
Do your eyes hide all your sorrow
Showing only what you permit?
My inquisition they do not admit
What lurks behind your smile
Your love and me you so beguile
But you turn to me, I will admit
Wondering should I wait a while
Do your eyes hide all your sorrow
And hear only what you permit?

-----

Sound: the second sense:

Hearing only what you permit,
Of the depth of your love I wonder.
You do not speak, will not admit
Or help to cast my doubts asunder.
The sound of you my heart thunders
To hear you speak to see you smile
To listen to you, even for a while,
Knowing thy time is Heaven sent
And with thy words there is no guile
Becoming familiar with thy scent.

-----

Smell: the third sense:

Becoming familiar with thy scent,
Your reflection doesn't bring me hope.
That mirrored image doth torment
My sense of smell, giving me nought.
Unlike memory and what that brought
What can compare to your presence.
The physical source of your essence,
But oh to sample would you allow?
How may I gain acquiescence
To know what flavour it doth endow.

-----

Taste: the fourth sense:

To know what flavour it doth endow.
My lips would savour every bit.
That reflection won’t help me now
Stead to patience I must submit.
But too your love I will commit
Lips longing to make their debut,
And from then on each day renew
The taste of your kisses, upon me
And my lips and kisses upon you,
Wondering where your touch will be.

-----

Touch: the fifth sense:

Wondering where your touch will be,
Not that reflection's in the glass.
By now I know that what I see
Has no depth, or breadth or mass.
Your shape or form it can't surpass,
A physical body, to love, to feel,
That gives this feeling, not surreal
How can I make your heart grow
So that we can share what is real
With hearts touching and blending so.

-----

Soul: the sixth sense:

With hearts touching and blending so,
The love light that your soul emits
Are you Juliet and I your Romeo?
What do I see, what do you permit
Is it love for me you must admit?
What lurks behind your sultry smile
Am I the lover you wish to beguile?
Must you forever show such sorrow
Stay with me e'en for just a while
Break down walls with me tomorrow

-----

Breaking Down Walls - Sense at last

Break down walls with me tomorrow
And with each brick remove your fear
With that fear see your sorrows go
Hearing finally all you need to hear
A scented love with a touch so dear.
Our souls say please, it must be
Remove the last of the debris
Taste true love and truly show
All is open now, I cannot see
Your reflection in the window.

Colors
Nicola Winter

Blue Jay

In Azure skies fly blue diamonds
Bold of wing and raucous of cry,
Carry's confidence as he bonds
Turquoise heavens and earthly sigh
Of wind and water to espy
Another blue day and dark night
In indigo wash, favored flight,
A time to remove fear, take life
By the hand and walk with new sight
Into lapis dreams hand of rife.

-----

Blackness

Carbonada is the new moon,
Soft to the eye, hard to be touched,
So far from view, so long from noon
Where lackluster stars seem there couched,
Hidden, though awaiting nights clutch,
And dreams remain obsidian
Dark, no hours meridian,
For onyx thoughts wishing for more
Than a nightmares glut soon to begin,
Devouring hope, light and doors.

-----

Solemn Browns

Blustery days blowing brown leaves
Over wheaten blades in old fields,
Fodder for next years sunny weaves
Of summer days spent in the wilds,
Leaping fawns carrying my child's
Dreams into oaken leas of buff
Pheasants following along tough
Trails of wizened sage and pastures
Golden in the noonday suns bluff,
Where only faeries may adjure.

-----

Verdegris

A patina of jade remains
On the skeleton of a roses
Buds and branches covered by rain,
And a stain of pink still poses
It's former glorious bright red,
Now a sickly tint of gray-dead
Waiting for springs verdant wed,
Under snow and ice so pale,
To sun fed grass, tree and rose bed
The like which thrush sing of in dales.

-----

Carmine, Be Mine

The heart of the matter is love
Which carries the weight of rubies,
Golden in sunlight far above
Red sand deserts asperities,
Arid like red wine, as you please,
Another cup to take with sups
In sanguine moments so swept up
You could hold them in maroon skies
Lit in setting suns arms, close up,
With warm crimson-garnet in eyes.

-----

Grays

Shadows on the walls are haunting
Every move I make, as feet ache
To follow the sun, light flaunting
Garb of yellow rays that give wake
To swans swimming in shallow lakes
Like cloudy days, colorlessly
Wearing young bird drabs, no lovely
White or black of yin-yang fates.
Not what I expected to see
When dawns rose stole twilights deep slate.

-----

Chromatic

The character of the rainbow
Is of scales of hue that are true,
That refract in your eyes, like now,
As love lets all colors in view
To count their numbers, never few,
But a spectrum of light to thee
For being a special bright glee
In a heart held fast by the blues,
Joy found it's end in how you see
A different blend of just two.

Feelings
Trewir Wintlek

Feelings Are Flying

Overwhelming thoughts of your touch
Fill up all my senses with you
As with paintings, words we retouch
And make more memorable hues
Emotional feelings construe
At times dripping darkened blue words
Words that blur loving sighs once heard
Scenes now become heavenly mist
Dreaming, Feeling what we preferred
Feelings are flying, Once we’ve kissed

-----

Feelings Of Pain

Feelings are flying, Once we’ve kissed
Falling for the same old emotional abuse
Beaten, raped; knifed, can’t be dismissed
Alone I sit, no longer his ruse
He’s gone, he’s gone, he blew his fuse
His thoughts were always kill, kill, kill
Hard drugs, booze and aids took his will
He turned his last thought on himself
He raped the young, baptized the ill
True Feelings covered; Kills oneself.

-----

Feelings Of Anger-Killing

True Feelings covered; Kills oneself
Anger runs rapid, all over the land
Overestimating themselves
Disrupting all systems command
Bombs bursting and killings at hand
Hiding from power, scared not they say
I say, foolish life’s they portray
Yet they say, they have no fear
Thy shall not kill is meaningless today?
Twisting, turning where feelings are more clear

-----

Feelings of Like

Twisting, turning where feelings are more clear
I’m Embracing the likes of you
A man to treasure and draw near
Soft music played low, Liking things we do
Candle light dining for two
We felt the sensation of need
enjoyed many moments we disagreed
As we Shared all aspects of poetry
and excited times we both agreed
Friendship smiled and answered our plea…

-----

Feelings of Friendship

Friendship smiled and answered our plea
Like the colors of autumn leaves change
we drifted together in harmony
There were times harsh words were exchanged
calmly forgiving at a visual range
As we stroll down life’s friendship lane
feeling the strains, benefits we obtain
Greetings come on regular bases
Talking; driving each other insane (hehe)
Closely weaving a time where Love takes place

-----

Feelings Of Love

Closely weaving a time where Love takes place
Reunited, dinning to classical waves
Our eyes are locked, meeting face to face
I broke the spell, and said: what’s your craves
He leaned over and whispered: he was brave!
Our eyes told stories of a loving romance
He took my hand, and said: one more dance
One more dance to further entice our minds
A sexual embrace, it was our last chance
He carried me off, love struck and blind…

-----

Feeling Heaven

Up the spiral staircase in the penthouse
Oh, such thoughts were charisma in our minds
Suddenly, he spoke of a man name Gauss
I was intrigued; and quiet as a book louse
We were in a Heavenly talk; understand?
Feeling relaxed, undressed, lending our hands
Falling deep in a Heavenly romantic clutch
Our last climax; together we died Loving; Ain't Love Grand!
Overwhelming thoughts of your touch
