The Rondel Prime is a very beautiful but neglected poetry form having lost its popularity
to others in the passage of fashions. It is a 14 line poem which forms around two rhymes.
The refrain, in the Rondel is set up in the first two lines of the first stanza. The rhyme pattern is very simple being .A. B. a. b a. b. A. B for the first two stanzas and a quintain for the final stanza that mirrors the first two stanzas, with the last line repeating the first two lines of the first stanza a. b. a. b.. A. B The Rondel Prime also allows a variation in the rhyme pattern, of the final stanza you can have a. b..b. a..A. B. also. The meter is open but like most French poetry, it is usually eight syllables and this is one of the forms that in its purest form does not repeat any of the rhyme words. Here is an example usng the first type

Maryse AchongPoor dog she got a rotten deal But then she did not have a say; Wed to a man, it seems unreal, Better to have remained a stray. What kind of freak would even feel That to marry a dog’s okay. Poor dog she got a rotten deal, But then she did not have a say. He hoped these rites would help to heal Him of his sickness, dream away! Whilst he enjoyed a sumptuous meal A bun made up his ‘bride’s’ buffet Poor dog she got a rotten deal But then she did not have a say. ----- Questions Who’s to know what the morrow’ll bring Who can foresee what lies in store? Maybe we will hear our heart sing Like it has never sung before. Perhaps it will do no such thing And we will find ourselves heart sore. Who’s to know what the morrow’ll bring Who can foresee what lies in store. Perhaps we’ll see a light shining From underneath a once closed door, Are we to take the chance and fling It open, or choose to ignore. Who’s to know what the morrow’ll bring Who can foresee what lies in store. ----- Recognition If I just look around I see Why I should offer thanks each day. The mere fact that He lets me ‘be’ Is reason enough I would say. But other gifts given freely I accept in a casual way. If I just look around I see Why I should offer thanks each day. The mountains in their majesty Show off their hues, a grand display Whilst great trees bow their heads humbly As gentle breezes make them sway. If I just look around I see Why I should offer thanks each day. ----- THailand en Rose Thailand’s gone pink, that’s what I read, And yellow is on the way out, Because of their king, so it’s said, Once ill but now up and about. The good news like wildfire spread, The King wore pink there was no doubt. Thailand’s gone pink, that’s what I read And yellow is on the way out. Now that they’re wearing pink instead Of yellow, soon there’ll be a drought Of anything pink, what a dread- Ful thought, enough to make one pout. Thailand’s gone pink, that’s what I read, And yellow is on the way out. back to list |
Lorainne DafneyIn my garden with thoughts alone drifting between perfumed flowers a sense of security, home no clocks chime the passing hour my thoughts are free like winds that roam in valleys and mountains towers in my garden with thoughts alone drifting between perfumed flowers Where seeds are planted and then grown sprouting quickly from spring showers their dainty petals seem to clone from garden fairies sweet powers in my garden with thoughts alone drifting between perfumed flowers back to list |
Lori MartinIt appears again I must say goodbye, letting love fly through mist of pain, releasing my hold with heavy sigh, vowing, never shall I trust again. Tears overwhelm will not to cry, shattered heart leaves bloody stain; it appears again I must say goodbye, letting love fly through mist of pain. If life were only pure black white (instead of all this murky grey) and lovers would mean what they say. Understanding not the how or why, it appears again I must say goodbye, vowing, never shall I trust again. ----- Song of the Lori Jaye the silence burdened with her plaintive song melancholy cry of the Lori Jaye to fly beyond this cage, her clipped wings long despite Fate's decree that here she must stay green gold eyes weep while heart yearns to be gone as each morn she watches dawn of new day the silence burdened with her plaintive song melancholy cry of the Lori Jaye wills her mind to accept, tries to be strong unable to fly, her strength slips away rainbow-hued aura slowly fades to gray a comfortable life but its essence wrong the silence burdened with her plaintive song back to list |
Galadriel MystA kiss on full lips crash colliding ships They meet in firm touch, their claim to ensnare Together they ride, they roll in the dare Under stars on cool waves with white, frosty tips Taste of warm breath and mingling cool air Fine balm to a soul amid ocean dips A kiss on full lips crash colliding ships They meet in firm touch, their claim to ensnare Motion o'ertakes them, the waves at fast clips Gather power between the swollen, red pair On waves of collision throws caution beware To the winds of the cooling night airy whips A kiss on full lips crash colliding ships They meet in firm touch, their claim to ensnare. back to list |

Ryter RoethicleI always love the early autumn With dying leaves of Gold and Brown The fallen leaves upon the lawn A crinkled patchwork eiderdown. So on life goes ad infinitum A time of rest for all that’s grown I always love the early autumn With dying leaves of Gold and Brown To Earth a time of sleep has come Is wearing now a drab nightgown Some beasts also prepare their home Gathering what summer has grown I always love the early autumn With dying leaves of Gold and Brown ----- Dare I Dare I touch you still my lover Are you cold that you shiver so? Grip me tight and bid me slow As my lips shall your body cover. Forgotten eyes I now discover That with passion they would glow Dare I touch you still my lover Are you cold that you shiver so? Patience, waiting, you recover Relearned what I thought I know And relaxing in loves afterglow What pleasures shall we discover? Dare I touch you still my lover Are you cold that you shiver so? ----- Darkness The darkness will all encompass Midnight will be e'er my friend And bring with it all the evil class Seeking you, your life to end. See dark clouds over the moon pass Furtive moving at the roads bend The darkness will all encompass Midnight will be e?er my friend Hear the howls from the hungry mass Desiring blood message they send See your bloodstains on the grass Quivering in death, bowels spend The darkness will all encompass Midnight will be ever my friend ----- In spite of In spite of distance, you are my mate Spending forever together for eternity. In spite of time, caused by fate In love with you is all I want to be, I dream of a future when we could be Meeting when our lives are not too late In spite of distance, you are my mate Spending forever together for eternity. Loving, sleeping sharing life's rich plate You and I are together as we should be. Dream time together our senses sate In the halls of waiting you and me In spite of distance, you are my mate Spending forever together for eternity. ----- I Taste Your Essence I taste your essence on my lips I sense you blowing on the wind I feel you still at my fingertips And see you smiling in my mind. Each night with dusk I feel a kind Of bond with you of honeyed sips I taste your essence on my lips I sense you blowing on the wind The heavenly dust of passion grips My soul and body to unwind And free all feeling of loving nips My will to lock and mind to bind I taste your essence on my lips I sense you blowing on the wind. ----- Memory of Trees The memory of trees is everlasting A century of youth in flood and drought Lovers talking neath you, interesting!! Loves carvings and the pain it brought!! Later the family by you pic-nicking Children play some hide whilst another sought. The memory of trees is everlasting A century of youth in flood and drought Much later you are there a solitary king A wise man sits beneath lost in thought You stand there silent ignoring everything Realising that is what life is all about. The memory of trees is everlasting A century of youth in flood and drought. ----- Rain Descending. Rain descending from sombre cloud From the grey morning as we arise Hearing rain fall like an angry crowd In the drought catching all by surprise. The birds sit quietly in their nests For once listening to nature’s cries Rain descending from sombre cloud From the grey morning as we arise A strong wind picks up the shroud Dragging it o’er, helping suns demise Half light now lights a land once proud But to most Aussies it is no surprise Rain descending from sombre clouds From the grey morning as we arise. ----- Submissive Shadows Behind your eyes I can see your soul, And feel your suffering from the past. I will do my best to make you whole, I can see the shadows fading fast. No longer am I here just to console, But to build on something that will last. Behind your eyes I can see your soul, And feel your suffering from the past. To walk with you I see as my roll. We’ll take our time and make it last, Learning from each other as we stroll Building a love that is unsurpassed. Behind your eyes I can see your soul, And feel your suffering from the past. ----- Taste Test I want to taste your wine tonight Sweet on the lips, like grapes from the vine Slow lapping sips a gourmet delight Savoured and prepared, a taste divine. For a hungry heart the taste is right Rich and full bodied see how it shines I want to taste your wine tonight Sweet on the lips, like grapes from the vine It’s morning now, I still taste the night Loves hangover, I will now define; A besotted lover who is not contrite Wishing every moment to recombine. I want to taste your wine tonight Sweet on the lips, like grapes from the vine. ----- Watching I looked this morning for the first time Seeing a whole new world waiting. For a while watching blue skies creating White scudding airships, and their climb Towards their port a darkness away. I heard the birds no longer mating Instead like any couple debating Food and kids and school and crime. I pondered on this and went my way It gave an insight in how to treat my day. I feel the media has too much power It tries too much to control our lives What was a good thing has turned sour Spreading deceit is how it survives. ----- Would You? Would you turn back the hands of time And live again without mistakes, To show to age a face sans grime And live a life that’s full of grace? Or knowing the sinful ways regime This time be casual with laws breaks, Would you turn back the hands of time And live again without mistakes? Whatever, to live a life too sublime Would be boring and perhaps fake And far best to avoid a life of crime The middle road is the one to take. Would you turn back the hands of time And live again without mistakes? back to list |
Leny RooversAs breath is born within my core, awareness flows along my spine. While ribs expand and air is stored, I feel each vertebra align- in lotus pose upon the floor, I’m resting in my inner shrine. As breath is born within my core, awareness flows along my spine. My chest expands to open doors between my body and my mind- my soul protects a precious ore from which Your radiance now shines. As breath is born within my core, awareness flows along my spine. ----- Choices I I’m softly stroked by your warm voice, stirring my body deep inside; memories pleasantly rejoice as I’m carried on words’ soft tide. Sometimes life offers us a choice- dare we make it, follow new guides? I’m softly stroked by your warm voice, stirring my body, deep inside. We must choose freely, never foist, and reaching hands should be untied, as only then eyes can grow moist in mirrored glances filled with pride. I’m softly stroked by your warm voice, stirring my body, deep inside. ![]() Choices II Each moment of our life we choose between reality and dreams. I know that there are different views, and neither might be what it seems. As many-layered truths confuse, we often see but the extremes. Each moment of our life we choose between reality and dreams. Our daily life might bring the blues- we wish for more exciting schemes; yet sometimes, with a lucky fuse, present and longing flow in streams. Each moment of our life we choose between reality and dreams. ![]() Choices III I used to live in clouds of pink, not in the moment of today. Like grains of sand, but out of sync, my life spilled speedily away. One morning I woke up and blinked- Had I forgotten how to play? I used to live in clouds of pink, not in the moment of today. From that day on I am and think. Awareness holds all clouds at bay- connected with a conscious link, I fall in step with life’s sweet sway. I used to live in clouds of pink, not in the moment of today. ![]() ----- Fear I feel this person in my head He's trying to take over me And makes me stop to live instead So now my life's no longer free The thoughts he thinks are really bad I feel him watching me with glee I feel this person in my head He's trying to take over me Some days I'm longing to be dead Then I won't have to pay the fee Which will be mine when I'll be lead To that I just don't wish to be I feel this person in my head He's trying to take over me!!! II Ever so slowly I can feel My mind being taken over The world is becoming unreal As I day by day discover! No matter how I may appeal Or may try to find a cover Ever so slowly I can feel My mind being taken over I cannot escape this ordeal My spirit has to uncover Need a hiding place to deal With this dread that seems to hover Ever so slowly I can feel My mind being taken over III I feel I'm being drawn apart And bits and pieces of my ME Are slowly breaking from my heart Will there be any left to be? I feel I have to be on guard For all these parts of me I see I feel I'm being drawn apart And bits and pieces of my ME Are growing like a vicious wart They listen to the name of WE Where is the I, I used to be? I'm searching; don't know where to start For bits and pieces of my ME I feel I'm being drawn apart!!!!!!! IV I feel I have to find a way To reunite these many I's It's too confusing every day To listen to their many lies I need to find a way to stay Just one, at least in my own eyes I feel I have to find a way To reunite these many I's If I can switch most off I may Be able to live without cries Find strength to live just through today I don't want yet to say goodbyes I feel I have to find a way To reunite these many I's V or the end of it I think I found a way at last To stop those voices in my mind To get rid of fears from the past Or jolly well pay back in kind Today I found in my mind vast A way to freedom from this bind I hope I found a way at last To stop those voices in my mind Go back to sanity real fast A message read in eyes not blind I look into those eyes and find For me the die has not been cast I know I found the way at last To stop those voices in my mind! ----- In Times Unknown In times unknown we must have met How could we else have met this time To our destiny we were led To find at last a love sublime It is not easy as of yet To tell of this is not a crime It took awhile before we met We had to wait a long, long time But after everything's been said I really couldn't give a dime I'll send you in this little rhyme All of my love and heart instead In times unknown we must have met How else could we have met this time? ----- Listening Within the silence of my soul I bow and listen to my heart; my mind is aiming for control, it still reflects each daring dart. Old armour bled from many holes- they’re mapped since on a rusty chart. Within the silence of my soul I try to listen to my heart. Your loving voice could make me whole, I trust there can be a new start, so one day we might talk and stroll and can look back on times apart. Within the silence of my soul, I try to listen to my heart. ----- Past-Present-Future Leaving you (Past-Present) Your voice once caused my heart to jump, my eyes to shine, my mouth to smile, you gave me back my self-esteem. Today my heart felt like a lump, my eyes were sad, I tasted bile, I knew I had to end this dream. Your voice once caused my heart to jump, my eyes to shine, my mouth to smile. A heart is more than just a pump, to know its depth, might take awhile; one day life hits us with a bump, as suddenly we see for miles… Your voice once caused my heart to jump, my eyes to shine, my mouth to smile. Chance plays (Hidden) As Chance holds threads to all our hearts, she sometimes likes to play with them. Warm, pulsing lines that feed our soul, she intertwines into new starts, adorns her work with shining gems- new love is born, to make lives whole. As Chance holds threads to all our hearts, she sometimes likes to play with them. As new love rises from old parts, well-plaited threads form a strong stem; Chance asks night's stars for gentle charts, she weaves their light into love's hem. As Chance holds threads to all our hearts, she sometimes likes to play with them. Finding you (Present-Future) You've touched my heart with summer's bliss as love breaks down the walls I built- I welcome you into my shrine. I lift my face and feel your kiss dissolve the shreds of lingered guilt and see your eyes reflecting mine. You've touched my heart with summer's bliss as love breaks down the walls I built. When we'll grow old, we'll reminisce these golden days that will not wilt; past darkness and its deep abyss, we'll cover with love's warming quilt. You've touched my heart with summer's bliss as love breaks down the walls I built. ![]() ----- Soul's Song As voice gives birth to thought in sound that echoes from the inner world, its circling overtones are crowned when flow of breath brings song unfurled. Your music's touch is deep, profound- within my heart vibrations swirl as voice gives birth to thought in sound that echoes from the inner world. While crystal clarity abounds, deep in my spine a snake lies curled. Resounding notes are spinning, twirl- entice her slowly from her mound; as voice gives birth to thought in sound that echoes from the inner world. ![]() ----- Thankful There’s much that I am thankful for, my heart is flooding with Your gifts. Blue winter skies that I adore and autumn trees, when colours shift; The drive to work is not a chore, when dawn breaks red as grey veils lift. There’s much that I am thankful for, my heart is flooding with Your gifts. Life’s sweetness and its pain explore the way I cope with lessons’ cliffs. Your warm embrace touches my core- I learn to bend with harsher drifts. There’s much that I am thankful for, my heart is flooding with Your gifts. ----- Tides As waves of song wash on mind's shore, life's flotsam slowly is transformed; it's taken back into sea's core- left wreckage swept by last night's storm. My soul is cleansed, so it can soar above the planes where angels swarm. As waves of sound wash on mind's shore, life's flotsam slowly is transformed. This purity of sound explores all hidden corners and it warms as frozen hearts fall in rapport. Eternal rituals perform as waves of sound wash on mind's shore- life's flotsam slowly is transformed. Veils Within the realm of still veiled spheres, all deities converse with ease- no enmity amidst the peers as gentle talk flows like a breeze. Respect can end the reign of fears and growing insight will appease- within the realm of still veiled spheres, all deities converse with ease. If we could tune our inner ears to listen deep within soul’s seas, I feel all mental clouds would clear and love could heal the world’s disease. Within the realm of still veiled spheres, all deities converse with ease. Winter As winter grabs with icy hands, I long for your warm touch on me. I dream of summer, golden sands and weightless floating in blue seas. At work I have to meet demands- my time and thoughts at people’s plea. As winter grabs with icy hands, I long for your warm touch on me. Our thoughts have built a bridge that spans blue oceans, mountains, forest-trees. One day that bridge might firmly stand, connecting hearts in pleasure’s tease. As winter grabs with icy hands, I long for your warm touch on me. You There is so much now that we share, the steps we chose have been worthwhile. Your voice is telling me you care as our talks grow versatile; I feel your touch and am aware my lips curve in a newborn smile. There is so much now that we share, The steps we chose have been worthwhile. As deep inside me sounds a prayer, I am enfolded and beguiled. Your presence in my mind prepares my heart to end its lonely trial. There is so much now that we share, the steps we chose have been worthwhile. You Are You are my anchor in high seas, my light, when clouds bring early night. You are my harbour in the lee, sustaining me when waves cause fright. Your certainty brings expertise to hidden future's unborn sight. You are my anchor in high seas, my light, when clouds bring early night. Your arms embrace me when I freeze and lead my steps in ancient rites. Your whisper is my autumn breeze that cools my brow in shared delight. You are my anchor in high seas, my light, when clouds bring early night. back to list |
Dinah SerritelliCrying’s proof I still have my soul, But what about the rest of me? For when you left my heart you stole, I need it back so I am free. My only wish is to be whole I beg...please listen, hear my plea Crying’s proof I still have my soul, But what about the rest of me? Down lanes of hurt I fear I stroll I need for you to let me be, Loneliness is taking it’s toll Surely my problem you can see Crying’s proof I still have my soul, But what about the rest of me? back to list |
Nicola WynterThere's nothing going on right here Right here in the forest of love, Of love there is only grey fear Fear is all I know and share. There's nothing happening but tears Just tears falling to earths care Of love there is only grey fear, Fear us all I know and share. There's woods full of deer, and my dear Can't be found amongst tree groves Where doves coo and bill for a year, I find no peace for love to rove; Of love there is only grey fear Fear is all I know and share. ----- December November gives ground to the snow And I feel like a gimlet passed My lips, leaving them red to show How the world takes dreams surpassed By the simplest event. Know That the earth has it all wrapped, My lips are left so red to show How the world makes drams surpassed. But this is no babe from the low Ends of her to be carried Forth in comfort, but a new plow To lay the way for me to rest, My lips are left so red to show How the world makes dreams surpassed. ----- The Falling Eve The falling eve drops cobalt ink On weeping stones that stand alone Like thoughts that no one ever thinks, Empty, a sonata of one. Rising stars life us from that sink To reverie of how we're shone The falling eve dropping blue ink On weeping stones that stand alone. Stars sit on their canvas sky throne Waiting for time to be in sync With the light they make, this cyclone Is their way of escape, they blink, The falling eve dropping blue ink On weeping stones that stand alone. back to list |
