Maryse AchongA small earthquake shook us up yesterday Thank God it did no damage but it still Left us feeling uneasy, hoping that There would be no repeat, a bitter pill To take… this sense of fear that hangs around; It has always been so, it always will. And for a while when the weather gets hot And is followed by rain or cooling breeze The old folks say "Watch out, prepare yourself, If you believe in God get on your knees And plead with Him to spare us once again And offer sacrifices to appease. But after that fear passes we forget And life goes on until another quake Rattles our cages, rocks our little world Then once again we are eager to make Promises to do this or to do that Anything if only He'll end the shake. back to list |

Judie GellingI have such strengths Of which I'm not proud Mixed with air and water On the mountainside I'm loud Gathering speed as I go Destroying all within my grasp Changing natures line of sight Leaving no one nothing to clasp Nature, buildings or human life I often left you buried alive Alone and scared, I am so sorry I pray of me you will survive. back to list |
Ryter RoethicleWhen I fell, I fell head first, And was swept along gathering speed. This was no downhill glide to oblivion This was an avalanche of emotions! One kiss required more Becoming an exponential ride to heaven They themselves requiring more Creating an avalanche of desire! When does love change from lust Or does lust create love? And will that sated love Become an Avalanche of peace? I ask only because of how I feel about you And the avalanche you create inside me. ----- Genesis Today I heard two Australians Had died as a result of an ice wall collapsing. An Avalanche! On a mountain they were climbing In New Zealand It took me back almost forty years To a time when I was lying in a hospital bed With a broken leg Having survived a hundred foot fall Onto rocky scree Where I heard the news. Adrian had been climbing in France With two other mates They were on their way down Supposedly safe. They had paused to photograph an ice cave When the avalanche occurred It was Adrian's birthday, His twenty first. Peter had broke a leg, And Dikie Seed had walked away. Adrian was a devout Catholic. Dikie Seed like me was a devout sinner. It made me think, why him and not me? That was the beginning of my search. back to list |
Nia Wynne![]() Lahar When you fell, I fell with you, Head long into feelings and desires. Volcanic meeting of chocolate and dew, Lava of hearts and rivers of spice Taking us where love may conspire And by it's ways became enticed. One touch beget the rest, Believing fate guided our stars, They too shone the brighter at our behest Though we outshone them, Creating river eddy, just ours, Twinkling with afterglow like gems. When you fell, I fell with you, With one touch begot the rest. back to list |
