2011 Poetry Form Challenge

#15 Collins Sestet

The Collins stanza is a melding of three groups of poetry; (1) rhyming couplets, that create a (2) sestet, but the last line of each stanza also repeats a line, phrase or word to link it with the next stanza; making it a (3) repeating form also.
Idealy heroic couplets are used but any rhyming couplet is permitted. To differenciate between the two, a poem using Heroic couplets, (Iambic Pentameter) is called a Divine Collins.
Lets look at an example of the normal form.

Lovers Apart

A depth of feeling within my heart
Is so intense when we are apart
For in my dreams I feel your touch
That I know I long for thee much
Oh how that smile doth beguile me
From lips that whisper I love thee.

Yearn to savour thy tender touch
My dearest I doth love thee much
For moments apart hath told me so
This absence tells me thus I know
Oh how that smile doth beguile me
From lips that whisper I love thee.

I long to be held twixt loving arms
Feeling warmth and sensual charms
One day soon we shall fly together
Raising our spirits on high forever
Oh how that smile doth beguile me
From lips that whisper I love thee.

Amor Vincit Omnia (Love Conquers All)

Love is a bed of roses they say
Both together come what may
When chemistry begins to show
Misted eyes of moon shine glow
Softly rhythmic heartbeats sing
Love doth conquer everything.

Vibrant touch with a sensual trace
Love enclosed in warm embrace
Kisses sweeter than any wine
I was yours and you were mine
Softly rhythmic heartbeats sing
Love doth conquer everything.

Come my love and hold my hand
Take me back to our wonderland
We again shall share our dream
Our love again we shall redeem
Softly rhythmic heartbeats sing
Love doth conquer everything.

Awakened Spirits

I recall the days when we were together
The love and fun that we had then forever
Life was carefree and everything was fine
When I was once yours and you were mine;
We both had known we would meet again
Never knew where and never knew when.

Precious moments we had shared as one
Our days were free when we both had fun
Until such a time when our lives departed
Strong were our spirits again we started;
We both had known we would meet again
Never knew where and never knew when.

We lost our moments of love you and me
No longer together no more were we free
In a new awakening, together once more
To cherish each much more than before;
We both had known we would meet again
Never knew where and never knew when.

Devil Woman

Black the sun has burned the sky
While deep in purgatory shall go I
In a dark abyss of wanton shame
The moon shall never be the same;
A temptress of the darkened night
I shall dance with the devil tonight.

Live to die within smouldering arms
Cannot escape those evil charms
Defence is low,but hot with desire
Deep in the heat of a burning fire.;
A temptress of the darkened night
I shall dance with the Devil tonight.

Unto this demon of wilful corrupt
Red hot ashes of sin shall erupt
Wild are the passions of fiery lust
Ashes are ashes as dust is to dust
A temptress of the darkened night
I shall dance with the devil tonight.

Jungle Boogie

Down in the jungle where bongo drums beat
Natives boogie woogie with bangled feet
Coconut shells and thick bamboo canes
All making music for the monsoon rains
So come on boogie were having a ball
For the boogie ends when monsoons fall.

Banana skins hiding loosely hung parts
Women in grass skirts the boogie starts
Come and do the limbo dance with me
The craziest pole dance you ever did see
So come on boogie were having a ball
For the boogie ends when monsoons fall.

Shaking and shimmying all night long
Party is swinging it`s a great ding dong
Pots on the flames for a boogie feast
Mango`s, pineapples, with wildebeest.
So come on boogie we`re having a ball
For the boogie ends when monsoons fall.

Move that body set your feet in motion
Lets all now party both sides of the ocean
Dance to the rhythm of the boogie beat
If you dont know how your in for a treat
So come on boogie were having a ball
For the boogie ends when monsoons fall.

Lady to Knight

`Twas that thee that came to my bed last night
Within wildest dreams I received with delight
I shalt weaken to whispers of sweetest love
That I feared to awaken from dreams thereof
Come linger dearest knight thy whispers I keep
Sweet dreams shalt occur when e're I sleep.

Were you really my Knight in shining armour
Who came to my bed with noise and clamour
With a bower of sweet roses stolen from tree
And thorns of scorn constantly pricking at me
Come linger dearest Knight thy whispers I keep
Sweet dreams shalt occur when e'er I sleep.

Come now dear Knight upon thy rampant steed
Thou hath ridden far to reach thy great need
I shalt not forsake thee for thus I shalt vow
If `tis passion thy desire come hitherto now
Come linger dearest Knight thy whispers I keep
Sweet dreams shalt occur when e're I sleep.

Little Bird

Would thou keep a bird in a guilded cage
No word of affections or love to engage
And pledge to warble sweetness to thee
When she yearns only to be wild and free
Oh poor defenseless creature within pain
Shalt thy e-er venture blue skies again.

Freedom lost how thy heart trembles fast
Within deep anquish feathers hath cast
What cruelty hath betrayed human trust
Relentlessly treated so badly and unjust
Oh poor defenseless creature within pain
Shalt thy e-er venture blue skies again.

What ails thee little bird thou art so still
Thy wings cannot fly of their own free will
How canst thy broken spirit ever forgive
And how in your heart find the will to live.
Oh poor defenseless creature within pain
Shalt thy e-er venture blue skies again.

Lost City of Atlantis

How did the City of Atlantis disappear?
Was this history back then or just fable
Sea god Poseidon, warned of this fear
That mortality was soon to be unstable;
So many claims that tongues had woven
Nothing of which had ever been proven

Some say massive Volcano`s exploded
Atlantis was lost to the depth of the sea;
Others spoke of cliffs that corroded
Unto this day it still remains a mystery.
So many claims that tongues have woven
Nothing of which had ever been proven.

Maybe Atlantis was just an imagination
Passed down from previous generations
Where was the proof, was it ever there
The lanscape now has no words to share
So many claims that tongues have woven
Nothing of which had ever been proven.

Lost In Vision

In my dreams when young I wanted a star
They were out of reach and much too far
I didnt think then I had asked for so much
But I was too young and well out of touch;
Tho` the tears had flowed from my eyes
No one took notice of my pointless cries.

I had lived in a fantasy world of my own
All I had wanted was to be left all alone
It was then that I found what I had lost
My lack of friendship had paid the cost;
Tho` the tears had flowed from my eyes
No one took notice of my pointless cries.

I spoke to the trees and sang in the fields
Praised the beauty that the country yields
Thought I was happy with all I once was
Alone in dreams on a time warp pause;
Tho` the tears had flowed from my eyes
No one took notice of my pointless cries.

Then I grew up as my time ticked away
Of all the years that I had nothing to say
It was then I knew what was on my mind
I had different dreams of another kind;
Tho` the tears had flowed from my eyes
No one took notice of my pointless cries.

My youth has gone but it is not to late
Dreams of a lover shall now be my fate
Gone are the times when my discontent
Ruled my life I thought then was meant;
Tho` the tears had flowed from my eyes

No one took notice of my pointless cries.

Lovers

The warmth from bodies as they embrace
So gentle a touch searching fingers trace
Sending sensual tremblings down the spine
To share this their fantasy of lovers divine;
Precious memories sweet moments together
Entwined temptation this love was forever.

For this was a love that had become in time,
Their spiritual closeness of passions sublime
Some name it love while others say it`s lust
But God only knows it that to love they must;
Precious memories sweet moments together
Entwined temptation this love was forever.

Many a time their hearts hath near broken
Frustration anquish with cruel words spoken
All they could do was to be calm and soothe
For all lovers know love never runs smooth;
Precious memories sweet moments together
Entwined temptation this love was forever.

Lozen Indian Warrior Woman

I bring love to all men the warrior woman said
I fight no more through tranquillity I shall tread
Perfect peace shall be thine for thy final quest
No more shalt I suffer this hatred in my breast;
Within this green valley I now save my identity
Pray for my tribe towards peace and serenity.

No longer shalt victory be written on my scroll
To quench this thirst of slaughter in my soul
For this unrelentless feeling within an icy chill
Surrenders unto peace with love and good will;
Within this green valley I now save my identity
Pray for my tribe towards peace and serenity.

Passed is the song of the opposed war prattle
That groweth distant from the drums of battle
Far from battlefields of such torture and pain
Of a troubled mind that rendered me insane;
Within this green valley I now save my identity
Pray for my tribe towards peace and serenity.

Medusa

In Ancient Greece their dwelt a lady fair
Who adorned Silken locks of golden hair
Her great beauty then spread o`er the land
But she ne-er obtained a gold wedding band;
If admirers should glance at her face alone
A curse would forever turn them to stone.

King Neptune had charmed her chastity away
Within the great temple of Athena they lay
Athena angered how her temple was used
For chastity she believed had been abused;
If admirers should glance at her face alone
The curse would forever turn them to stone.

She cast on Medusa this most wicked spell
But not a body would e`er survive to tell
Of demons and snakes within her tresses
In her envious plight for wanton caresses;
If admirers should glance at her face alone
The curse would forever turn them to stone.

Memories Of Winter

Where are the winters that used to be
The winters that always delighted me
Treading our foot prints in the snow
Where nobody else ever dared to go
Gone are the log fires dying embers
Of winters past we still remember.

Making snow men with stones for eyes
Returning home for a pleasant surprise
Upon a log fire chestnuts were roasted
On a very long fork crumpets toasted
Gone are the log fires dying embers
Of winters past we still remember

Snow blizzards we tucked up in beds
Blankets pulled right up to our heads
Now we sit by our new central heating
Warm! but not such a cheery greeting
Gone are the log fires dying embers
Of winters past we still remember.

Moon Phase Crop Growing

When to plant the seasons seed
In the hope, that you succeed
Does not take much explaining
Leave it while the moon is waning.
Observe the sky when relaxing
Sow thy grain while moon is waxing.

Man hath studied through the ages
Natures growth with moon in phases
Heeding to the ancient learnings
Learned farmers thus concerning
Observe the sky when relaxing
Sow thy grain while moon is waxing.

For thy crops shall not prevail
If moon is waning they may fail
Wait and learn given a chance
They shall flourish at a glance
Observe the sky when relaxing
Sow thy grain while moon is waxing.

Natures Anguish

So distraught can be the outcome of men
When a natural disaster strikes yet again
And the earth doth quake one final warning
All could be lost with the land in mourning
Who shall be left then to suffer this plight
When the reaper calls and there is no light.

This disaster angers great mountains high
So volcano`s erupted towards the dark sky
Spewing molten lava within an acrid breath
On mountain slopes to valley`s of death
Who shall be left then to suffer this plight
When the reaper calls and there is no light.

When all the fish that has nurtured the sea
All disappeared they are nowhere to see
The World we live in is just not the same
Whither we go shall we then part in shame
Who shall be left then to suffer this plight
When the reaper calls and there is no light.

Norse Goddess

Freyja Norse Goddess of beauty and grace
Like Aphrodite the Greek born to embrace
Renowned for her power and magical balm
A Goddess of love with submissable charm;
So alone was Freyja with heartache untold
She was said to weep red tears of gold.

Her lovers were chosen on beckoned call
For lust and enticement bewitching to all
Luring and tempting with a beautiful face
With her body veiled `neath cobweb lace;
So alone was Freyja with heartache untold
She was said to have wept red tears of gold.

Two fine daughters from wedlock she bore
Her husband Óðr, had abandoned their shore
With repititions of mothers beauty to gain
As Vikings blood passes thro` their veins;
So alone was Freyja with heartache untold
She was said to have wept red tears of gold.

Soaring heavens realms where she reigns
Where her spirit of after life still remains
Amidst resting souls of her warriors bold
Harnessed by cats her chariots of olde;
So alone was Freyja with heartache untold
She was said to have wept red tears of gold.

Preservation

Somewhere there were trees swaying in the breeze
The would often speak to me rustling autumn leaves
I would listen to their grief how their dwindling away
To make much more space for the humans of today;
It sadly breaks our hearts, making all us trees sigh
What was once so strong shall now most surely die.

What of all our life here in this forest looking bare
What of all the wildlife why does`nt anybody care
Where ever shall all the birds go if they cannot rest
When they have`nt any trees to build their cosy nest;
It sadly breaks our hearts, making all us trees sigh
What was once so strong, shall now most surely die

Plants are getting rarer to make room for mankind
How much room needed are they out of their minds
Where is the green belt, they promised us forever
Those words were they false or broken or whatever;
It sadly breaks our hearts making all us trees sigh
What was once so strong shall now most surely die.

Rain Clouds

Why must love hurt so when lovers part
When once they shared a loving heart
Only a short time they both could tell
It only took hurt to shatter the spell
Love had shown passion within the eye
But deep inside stormy rain clouds cry.

Why must it be when love was so strong
Whatever happens when things go wrong
In a heated moment of heartfelt words
To extinguish romance was so absurd
Love had shown passion within the eye
But deep inside stormy rain clouds cry.

Why cant they both just kiss and make up
And sup mellow wine from their loving cup
For this love so precious cannot be undone
When both hearts blend together as one
Love had shown passion within the eye
But deep inside stormy rain clouds cry.

Reborne To Nature

When my time on this earth shall be past
And the images of my dreams are cast
Unto the wilderness my remains shall be
I shall be honoured and so must thee;
Scattered to wind from a hilltop high
There shalt be no sorrow or no sad eye.

Look for not in the cold ranks of death
Listen to the breeze and hear my breath
My songs shall be the call of the wild
My touch shall be gentle soft and mild;
Scattered to the wind from a hilltop high
There shalt be no sorrow or no sad eye.

Look for me not upon the wide ocean
Mermaid, shells or ancient crustaceans
Nor shalt I bathe with the fish in the sea
My spirit may fly with the winds so free;
Scattered to the wind from a hilltop high
There shalt be no sorrow or no sad eye.

When my time on this earth shalt be past
I shall rest with my guardian angel at last
Whispering willows shalt be my voice
You shalt find me there only by choice;
Scattered to the wind from a hilltop high
There shalt be no sorrow or no sad eye.

Seasons Of The Forest

Green the meadows which thrive in the spring
Harken the cuckoos sweet song on the wing
For all of earths creatures shall spring alive
Woodlands in springtime again shall survive
Praising each year the changing of seasons
Blessed be to nature who has her reasons.

Summer adorned the dense thickets of green
Flowers now boasting natures magical scene
No artists brush shall inspire with this flair
To capture moments with precision and care
Praising each year the changing of seasons
Blessed be to nature who has her reasons

Come Autumns carpet of crimson and gold
Shedding the leaves bright colours to behold
Thou who hath withered with ne-er a sound
A host of dead leaves fierce winds blew down
Praising each year the changing of seasons
Blessed be to nature who has her reasons.

Pretty is the picture of this winters scene
Sprinkles of snow adorning pines of green
This page from a magical faerie lore story
Transforming the forest to all it`s glory
Praising each year the changing of seasons
Blessed be to nature who has her reasons.

Spirit Of Battle

This most strongest yet gentler of steeds
Was the Pinto a true painted pony of speed
With his head high so steadfast and free
Bred for courage and yet inner calm had he;
This colt once broken by a spiritual hand
As he took the lead of the warriors band.

His ears were strained to the drums of war
And louder the sounds of the cannons roar
A beauty bred for the chief of the tribe
In battle he charged with valour and pride;
This colt once broken by a spiritual hand
As he took the lead of the warriors band.

With fire in his blood and breath of foam
Returning safely to his settlement home
He carried this Chief through wars untold
His spirit remembered from battles of old;
This colt once broken by a spiritual hand
As he took the lead of the warriors band.

-----

Stampede

Crazy horses stampede in the wild
Frenzied eyes with a fear beguiled
Forest fires were burning so fast
Advances forth their futures to cast
Thundering hooves on a dusty track
Must go on for there`s no going back.

Wild horses with an inborn manic
Breath of foam from a fiery panic
Charging forth in a wild stampede
A steadfast mustang takes the lead
Thundering hooves on a dusty track
Must go on for there`s no going back.

Galloping forth towards the great river
For water alone is their only life giver
A smaller herd now but all is not lost
For all that is left shall count the cost
Thundering hooves on a dusty track
Must go on for there`s no going back.

This Day

This day of which tomorrow
Shall soon be our yesterday
Will be lost and gone forever
So smile be happy and gay
It may be tomorrows memory
Live thee well on this day.

This day that turns into weeks
As do months turn into years
Like an old grandfather clock
Heart beats shall `ere tick away
It may be tomorrows memory
Live thee well on this day.

Those days weeks and years
If humans remain here or not
The World shall still revolve
Mankind could become history
It maybe tomorrows memory
Live thee well on this day.

The Voice

The trees were nourished a long time ago
Flowers and herbs with seed pods to sow,
Once rivers were flowing with waters clear
And the songs of the birds for us to hear;
A voice had carried as the hurricane blew
God forgive they know not what they do

Their were Fields of plenty corn and wheat
Of barley turnips maize and of beet
Wild life had dwelt in the forest so deep
Insects busy in the rich soil did keep
A voice had carried as the hurricane blew
God forgive they know not what they do.

The seasons of nature did come and go
And oceans with tides that ebb and flow
A sun that gave warmth shining bright
Moons that lightened the darkest night
A voice had carried as the hurricane blew
God forgive they know not what they do.

Humans who thought they did their best
But now they have gone and laid to rest
With nothing left of the safe ozone layer
Our World just a desert barren and bare
A voice carried as the hurricane blew
God forgive they know not what they do.

May we try another planet and start again?
Correcting our mistakes that we made then
Can we make better rules is it not too late?
For a new World with a much better fate.
A voice carried as the hurricane blew
God forgive they know not what they do.

Woodland Lovers

Oh ye fair spirits of woodland sage
Who writ an oath on an age old page
And hath pledged her promises of love
Unto a knight of the kings realm above
Enclosed in sweet fantasy of the night
They sampled the joys of loves delight .

Until the dawns crystal dew drops dance
Both within their spiritual mystical trance
How sweetly this love that hath bestow`n
For inner passions hath both been shown
Enclosed in sweet fantasy of the night
They sampled the joys of loves delight.

Now this bond of love they hath sealed
For love sweet love hath now revealed
Was never illusions nor dreams of lust
Together they knew that love they must
Enclosed in sweet fantasy of the night
They sampled the joys of loves delight.

Blindness of Illusion

The blindness of illusion sees beyond
Old thoughts of which a sultry heart seems fond
A wisdom unwilling to grow or learn
Emotional discord begins to burn
Black ashes fall like the discarded rain
Remnants of love can never heal the pain.

A fallen angel left to die alone,
With no solace found in the world of stone,
Echoes of the past breaking the lost soul,
It's only in death that it will come whole,
For life is a familiar winding lane
And remnants of love cannot heal the pain.

Yet letting go of all the salty tears,
Releasing the heart from destiny’s fears,
The willing heart can meet another date,
On the journey that leads us all to fate,
And clarity of truth stands to remain
In remnants of love that never heal pain.

Gods Would Stop

His amber eyes recall the jungle ways,
The silent spirit call from distant days,
Those ancient echoes that now touch his soul,
Before Man came to tame the wild carole,
When the world moved to a different law
And gods would stop to hear the tiger's roar.

His honeyed stripes an echo of his pains,
Of chasing his prey across Savannah plains,
Now he chases shelter that Man denied
In endless cravings for a thrilling ride
Still the cat remembers what was before
And gods would stop to hear the tiger's roar.

His stretching paws are seeking comfort deep
As he lays himself down for gentle sleep
He longs for wiser days no longer found
The days when all the world was hallowed ground,
And I wonder how, when as we ignore
The gods shall stop to hear the tiger's roar.

-----

Poets Play

Those gentle words that speak of loving grace
Where e'er I gaze upon her moonlit face
The sacred love that longs to comfort me,
Within the shadows of a dream I see
That home is where the heart is, so they say,
And love divine is where the poets play.

And as I pray in lunar light, I long
To hear the melody of magic's song;
Oh mysteries in holy words of love,
Impart my soul to know the truth thereof,
That home is where the heart is, so they say,
And love divine is where the poets play.

-----

Seedlings of Thought

The briefest thought that planted in my mind
Was only heard when I was left behind,
The shadowed walls of prejudicial hate
Where I was made to suffer while-u-wait;
Yet still I could feel echoes from above
They were telling me to believe in love.

In another time in a distant place,
I'd dance with sublime elegance and grace
To rhythm chanted by passioned romance
Oh how my feet would long to join the dance
Amid the stars and all the light thereof
I wanted to believe that there is love.

I sought the chance to be me, to be free
I looked throughout the world but couldn’t see,
The light that guides is not found here or there,
Until the heart can see and be aware
The truth within the soul that speaks thereof
Believe or not it is the path to love.

Now when I look upon the universe
Without old fears or whispering a curse,
I know I'll dance in my own unique way
For love has found a place in me to play,
From briefest thought I long ago dreamed of
I found my heart believed in precious love.

-----

Solid Oak

Its roots spread deep into the ground
As stretching branches reach for the sun
Yet it stands still for centuries
Watching how the world has gone
Without a word or wanton sigh.

But as I lean against the solid oak
I feel an echo far below
As light trickles softly through the leaves
I hear the voice, deep and wise, surmise
All life is of the Earth

-----

Unpaid Dues

Each night I look upon the moon with hope,
Before I scuttle down life's endless slope,
I beg the will to live another day,
To touch the dream of love another way,
But as I look towards the night-time sky
The rain absorbs the tears I'm left to cry.

If only I could breathe the air again,
Each breath ignites the raging flames of pain
Yet dares my heart to stand and proudly fight
So that my soul may know the way of light,
But as I look towards the night-time sky
The rain absorbs the tears I'm left to cry.

Yet now I yield to empty hands of fate,
My heart is lost; forever came too late,
The price of death again remains unpaid,
And still I breathe, unclaimed by reaper’s blade,
But as I look towards the night-time sky
The rain absorbs the tears I'm left to cry.

Eating Out In Singapore

I am alone and in the security of darkness
Savouring the coolness, the peace the freedom from mess.
I have no qualms about people's civilised life
But for civilised one should sometimes read strife.
It’s time now for me to eat a good meal and a cold beer
I know just where to go and what have, have no fear.

I am no longer within the security of darkness
The food is good and just my taste I have to fess.
The Chinese music is pleasant helping me keep my mood
One more line, one more spoon, this is bloody good.
The Tiger beer just helps me fill the spot
I'm starting to acclimatise now, its not so bloody hot.

Because I am no longer in the security of darkness,
I have a serious problem, I must confess.
I need to blow my nose, in public it's considered rude
To pull out a hanky and blow would make me look crude
So I must sniff and pull it back within
But in the privacy of my room I'm definitely going to sin.

-----

Heavy Rain

Listen to the rain crashing into the roof
Pounding remorselessly behaving so aloof
The thunder joins in adding to the din
Even worse sounding through a roof tin.
Drumming of water running down the drain
Not for such a long time have I seen such rain.

The heavy rain has ceased, gentle rain now falls
The sky no longer sombre to the Earth now calls
And thirsty plants still ease their thirst
The heavy rain thankfully have helped the worst.
Now there's gentle water flowing in the drains
Not for such a long time have I seen such rain.

-----

July Afternoon in Singapore

The wind that blows here is much to hot
It kills the active spirit and all thoughts got.
Then when walking back, I feel the rain
To help rebuild my spirits once again.
There is no offence, no need for fear,
It's always the same here this time of year.

The alternative is to breathe cold recycled air,
But why should I have to? It isn't fair!
I go out again and sweat, my clothes stick to me
I need my walking shorts so my legs are free.
One time I'll remember to pack them, have no fear
When I remember what's like here this time of year.

Next Aussie Autumn I won't hide them away
Ready and available is what they'll say.
Then when my need for them is most
I'll have my hat and them on so I won't roast
I'll make sure of my hat to protect face and ears
'Cause it's always the same here this time of year.

On Being in the Woods

I will walk slowly through the wood
In here I feel the peace I knew I would.
There is no anguish only a feeling sublime
The trees created through endless time.
Feeling the stresses of the day melt away
And my inner self bids me to stay.

There is no peace within a buildings walls
And only confusion within the hotels halls.
The piped music drives away sane thoughts
With inspiration gone I'm left with naught.
Common sense tells me, it's time to run away
It's stupid really for me to stay.

A sup of wine, and a loaf of bread
Isn't that what Omar Khayyam said?
To sup, and eat beneath a bough
It was true then and tis surely true now
Feeling the stresses of the day melt away
And my inner self that bids me stay.

Here I'm free to write and free to feel
Realising life within these trees is real.
I feel their peace surging over me
Now realising this is what's meant to be
No more stresses, no more debt left to pay
I've now decided it's here I'll stay.

-----

Ultimate

It is the final day, and I've waited for too long
The radio is playing for me, - a romantic song,
Setting the mood for what will be an impatient day,
We've waited too long, it's time we had our way.
Love will win the day once I see her face
And I can feel her in my loving embrace.

If the train is late, I'll buy another coffee and wait
I've been too long now waiting for my soulmate.
She phoned to tell me she was on her way
But it's a long journey that could take half a day.
Then I see my lady walking with her case
Walking, towards me anticipating my embrace.

Values

As I eat my lunch I'm watching the local birds
Paddling in the puddles of sunlight in the yard.
The ample shelter of the trees cast long shadows
That shapes the place like a series of furrows
Of light and dark green, light and dark paving
I watch and eat and satiate hungers craving.

I'm sitting now watching my students do a test
It's been a hectic time and I'm ready for a rest.
The crowd this week are more than friendly enough
There's a need to hear English, that makes it tough.
Too much broken language and arms a waving
To hear English spoken is really what I’m craving.

This eve I'll sit outside with a bottle of wine,
My laptop will play music, and then all will be fine.
I'll watch the sun set over those ancient trees
Then when set I'll feel the evening breeze,
And perhaps then I'll realise what I'm saving,
All the time and peace that will ease my craving.

#2

There is still a touch of heat in the night
As the setting sun continues to shed its light.
A strange bird calls out its unfamiliar song
I am new, and its family has been here so long.
It calls out as if to say; "There's a stranger here".
If only it would understand, there's naught to fear.

Even though a semi-stranger to this part of Earth
I will still respect and love its land of birth.
The greenness around tells me they wish to breathe
And therefore gives me no urgent call to leave.
I can understand that all this has cost avians dear,
If only they understand from me there's naught to fear.

Nature - Collins Sequence

#1
All life and more is in Natures plan
The least of which should humble man
And grows and forms and adapts to strife
This is the challenge Nature puts on life.
Across the ages life has made a chart
At survival each life has made an art

Each plant mutates and has adapted so
It lies dormant in sand, it sleeps in snow
Every year with the start of Natures round
On looking about a new shoot are found
Now is the time as the young shoots dart.
At survival each life has made an art

After desert rains see life grow again.
With the help of the sun and the rain
At last new life will emerge and grow
In the worst conditions life will show
With every chance new life will start
At survival each life has made an art

#2

Life blossoms forth its symbolic scenes
Attracting to procreate and pass on its genes
It is reliant on symbiosis for the key
And it needs the help of the worker bee
Or other creature that pass on the seed
To help fertilise each plant and weed.

And as the seasons wax and wane
One years lost is another's gain
Nature always balances out with time
So that nothing can out climb
As other creatures help pass on the seed
They help fertilise each plant and weed.

All things are equal in this natural state
All know their place as does their mate
Every year as each beast conceives
Each plant pushes forth new leaves
Creatures have helped pass on the seeds
Helping to fertilise the plants and weeds.

< #3

All know their place and their fate
Living out of harmony within their state
Should one species become too strong,
Nature levels it out before too long.
Natures balance is without deceit
Then along comes man in all his conceit.

Who often forgets that it is not his plan.
Always thinking naught is better than man
Ignoring that he's only an alternate form.
Not just like every other creature born
Upsetting the balance with his deceit
All part of man and his conceit.

Because of man, every day a species dies
And all we hear are corporate lies
Science and technology only deceives.
Ask the ancients what the tribe believes.
Those ancients live and are without deceit
And are ashamed of man and his conceit.

#4
The world from space how lush and green
But down here the destruction is obscene.
What man has done in the name of gain
Really means civilization has gone insane.
Destroying forests to build new towns
Acting like a bunch of painted clowns.

The cars and trucks we drive pollute the air
But we carry on regardless without a care
One day soon we will be asked to pay
Faced with the truth what will we say?
First denying using men in caps and gowns
But academics are not painted clowns.

They say it's not to late to change our way
But for what we take, we also have to pay.
And must live with Nature, and learn the art
So that with every chance new life will start.
Stop denying the truth, throw the gauntlet down
And depose each and every painted clown.

Killing Me Softly

What when you kiss me do I feel like within
Why my heart flutters tho`they say its a sin
When I only know the deepness of your love
Shown in your eyes with gentleness thereof;
When killing me softly with your love song
How in this world could our love go wrong

In spirit form we were made for each other
Through out the ages we have been lovers
To reveal much tenderness we both endow
A togetherness we cherished then and now;
When killing me softly with your love song
How in this world could our love go wrong

To be so apart love grows stronger each day
It is then we know it is true what they say
To yearn for the moment when we together
Shall be lovers once more now and forever;
When killing me softly with your love song
How in this world could our love go wrong

First Time

Once in the silence of the night I dreamed
And in that dream I saw your face it seemed
For the first time I saw it, yet I wonder now
Had I seen you before, somewhere, somehow?
It must have been a truly heavenly place,
I fell in love, the first time I saw your face.

Desires and passions became once more alive
My needs and longings awoke and revived,
And now you have become part of my reality,
Each day feeling the need once more to see
You must have come from a heavenly place,
I fell in love, the first time I saw your face.

Somewhere in time, a kiss became lost,
I have found it and no matter what the cost
It will be returned because it belongs to you
And it will be my pleasure to see it through.
Kissing you makes anywhere a heavenly place,
I fell in love, the first time I saw your face.
