The Decastich is basically any 10 line poem and nothing else is stated. The term Sonnetina states that it is a poetry form with meter, hence
it becomes a little song. The first one of the Sonnetinas is the Uno and states that it should be constructed as a blank verse poem constructed in Iambic Tetrameter, Pentameter or similar.

Kathy AndersonIn the deep night in your own green backyard Shadows fall where no moonlight ever touched Instilling a deadly cold, thus fevered Imagination taking on its canard. The shape of these thoughts trails icy eyes Across the skin of limbs exposed to the bise Then travels to the heat upon your scalp Making every hair charged with pure palp. Such dread leaves frost upon the air you breathe As the beast captures your heart in hands raw sheathe. ![]() ----- Wildflowers In the yard a row of wildflowers Buzzes with hordes of bumblebee's and flies Taking their final trough of sweet nectar To feed their multitudes during winter And keep the queen in royal jelly. Never mind the daisies with white petals, Golden centered turning orange when done For they hold the pollen in wild cups And share their bounty on the wind of wind, Creatures small, benefits to all above. ![]() back to list |
Divena CollinsLet the darkness fall down upon me Close my dreary tear stained eyes Soon my time here shall be spent Bury me not in cold sodden earth Nor heat and flame of eternal fire For when my spirit hath departed I shall arise again as once before And new dreams shalt be created Much better than they were before. From mistakes that I have learned. My eyes shall open to a new dawn With a future of paradise to come And all I once was, shall fade away Making room for a much better me My stars shall forecast life brighter A reading from the rune stones true New birth by the turn of the tarot That prophesize my future to come Of all the things that I never was Shall soon come to pass eternally. ![]() ----- Burnished Gold When the wild autumn winds cease to blow And whispering breezes caress the trees It is then that a woodland sprite shall dance Amidst the fallen leaves of burnished gold ; With outstretched arms for harvests yield She chants her rituals unto a fading sun Giving thanks unto the seasonal harvest Soon the dark earth shall lay deep in snow; And wild life hibernate within their nests Not until then shall she lay down her head. ![]() ----- Loves Pleasures When mutual attractions lies deep within It is the basis for a life long relationship For both are united within heavenly bliss When the spirit of love kindles their flame; What then but partake in the joys of love Then both combined become one of a kind When one gentle touch awakens their senses And their heart beat within tremors with joy; It shall be then that they both feel blessed. So endearing are whispers of love divine. ![]() ----- Oceanic Thoughts Vast is the sea that carries me forth From inland cliffs thro` ocean waves Awash with motion towards my fate At the bottom of the deep sea bed I am none other than a pebble. Down I float in a darkened abyss Where I cannot see speak nor hear No sun nor stars no moon above Nor can I breathe the salt sea air I am no more than a grain of sand. Here do I lay so long now forgotten From past storms `neath the sea bed No more in motion to sail the ocean For all that remains to survive Shall be no more than driftwood. Violent waves that swept the ocean Storms that sunk tall galleons of old Turbulent waters that ruled the waves Now calm and tranquil from anger spent I am nought but the moods of the tide. ![]() ----- A Rightful Queen. (Anne Boleyn) I who hath once been the Queen of England. Joined in holy wedlock to Henry the V111 Hath been cast asunder from false misdeeds Twas ne`er in my power to produce him a son; Honourable love then faded from his plans As he seeked for a promising successor I to be obliterated from my rightful throne, To be executed neath` the blade of a sword; Imprisoned like a criminal high in the tower Though my innocence hath saved me not. The pain and anquish neath` a long sharp blade Had left me tortured with a clean severed head. I had vowed this would ne`er be the end For I shall still walk the passages once more; And haunt the vast grounds of the royal court Headless tho` I am I shall still ride my steed For what was once weak hath now made strong My spirit shall linger throughout the ages; For what they hath done they shall ne-er forget That I was once the rightful Queen of England. ![]() ----- Shadows I tippytoe`d to my bed but I could not sleep Fearing a monster would hide underneath Re-occuring nightmares haunted my mind I have see him deep in my restless sleep He creeps underneath with big hairy arms I have felt him oft` times grabbing my leg His claws are sharp and could hurt me much If I have let my leg hang out the bed I mean I Within my nightmare scream out loud again And look once again for one more last peep. Every dark night it has always been the same Shadows play havoc on my childish mind Of ghosts and phantoms that haunt the night 'Neath my mattress he`s watching and waiting One false move and he will gobble me alive I reach for my teddy, he is no longer there Not even he cares to share my dreaded fear When he does not even comfort me I mean Could it be he the monster `neath my bed Do shadows play tricks within a tired mind? ![]() ----- Survival Harken now unto the darken'd night Canst thou hear the call of the wild The screams of an owls fated prey As pain gnaws thro' an open wound And blood runs freely upon the heath Strained veins within reddened eye As he tore at flesh with open beak And stripped the bare bones of flesh With not a morsel or carnage found For hunger pained his gizzards so. Pain of hunger versus pain of death Named survival of the very fittest What was seen to be running free Venturing forth so precariously Caught unawares in a bated trap Of an owl swooping down on him There is no certainty of escaping 'Tis the laws of nature to submit The weakest never stands a chance With ne'er the strength to survive. ![]() ----- Tinkers Creek There`s a mist by the graves at Tinkers Creek Where unrest spirits arise from their casks And a musty cloud floats within the breeze From the depth of the dank clodden earth Ghosts that have spoken from silent tongues Amidst the bleakness of their darkened tomb Arisen to haunt and bring fear to the living Who in years gone by had pointed their finger And had dared to accuse them of witchcraft They who hath now risen to seek their revenge. There`s a mist by the graves at Tinkers Creek Where no living soul had dared to venture Fearing the worse for their minds of sanity Of haunted dreams throughout their lives The hurt experienced, nagging deep within Revenge they wanted and revenge they got From the spirits of those they had tortured Ghostly shadows that walked the dark night That had suffered then the tortures of death Shalt not rest for evermore silent in the grave. ![]() ----- Whispers Of Love I hear them in the darkest hour When I am tucked up in my bed His soft whispers of love divine That delights my awaiting ears I lay amorously awaiting him He arouses these aching desires How his arms reach out for me While our longing bodies entwine To be close lovers one more time Surrendering ourselves to love. Come nigh my love unto my dreams Within our fantasy of passions Entwined closer in a sensual dance Of loves sweet harmony together So gently those touches caress The furnace shall soon extinguish Of flames that burned with desire Flicker and dance through the night Now spent of vigour and passion That echo`s only of soft whispers. ![]() back to list |
Jem FarmerWarm velvet anticipating sweetness Reflects within a breath of love’s desire, I don’t know the ‘whats’, the ‘hows’ or the ‘whys’, I don’t know words to express what I feel, I just know it is what I feel within, My thoughts have run into spiritual dreams, And found sense in mists of sleep’s fantasy, Yet my heart comprehends not this thing - love, It cannot resolve the liquid passions That consume every heartbeat, one by one As divinity becomes a single touch. ![]() ----- Unspeakable Need A whisper of lavender calls a dream, In gentle words that dare the heart to care As darker thoughts recall how love can hurt Mechanised walls surround the patched up heart, Before hungered lips betray the soul With more lavendered words inviting trust, A poet hides behind versed make believe, No sign the pulse is racing faster still, This unspeakable need to see her eyes And speak the words voices never say. ![]() back to list |
Peg NelsonHow can she stay sane with you? When there’s no love from you. When money has diminished To buy a sexy stylist dress To catch your roving eyes. How can she stay sane with you? When all you want from her Is to leave her in pain and sorrow. You’ll never comprehend true love ‘cause you think your far beyond tomorrow. Tomorrow, you’ll regret it Your going to find out someday A few days was never enough time To know who you passed up. But someday when you truly ponder Over the things you thought were bad, Then and only then you’ll understand. What happened and didn’t happen As much as you wanted to happen Broke and heartless, she’ll remain to you. You’re a man who does nothing, but sweet talk, not a man with respect for women Your one of many not to invest in true love A man who thinks women are his possessions. Thinking yourself as God’s gift to all women Did you forget, a woman was God’s gift to man? With that said; she’ll walk away gladly from you as Life’s calm and peaceful to her without you And without your characteristics of conceiving women. She’s more sane with someone who knows what true love is. ![]() back to list |
Ryter RoethicleClouds speak without uttering a sound Enquiring minds seek the meaning of life Lying on the ground looking into the sky Simple beauty floats in serene motion. Later there is a powerful conversation That takes place between heaven and earth And man must consider his worth shrink. In comparison with the timeless motion The wind will scatter his ashes to her corners And continue her never ending chase of clouds. ![]() ----- Dream on Girl! At first she is a little girl in the store, Looking around the supermarket She sees the eye catching colours Of the packages of sweets and toys She smiles and instantly wants it all. She looks sweetly up at her daddy With blonde hair and twinkling blue eyes He finds he is unable to resist Her appetite larger than her eyes After all it's only a credit card. Tonight will be another dream of tomorrow. A young woman enters the store, Catching the eyes of all the men With an offering of sweets and toys And very desirable packaging Every man there desires her all. She looks sweetly across at daddy With blonde hair and twinkling blue eyes No way can he possibly resist His appetite lost in her eyes It's only an expense account. Tonight, they will all dream of her. An older woman enters the store, Very rich, confident, and aware Her eye catching jewels and furs They have become her sweets and toys She married well, she has it all. She looks across at her toy boy His blonde hair and twinkling blue eyes Now no longer can she resist Her appetite larger than his eyes And after all it's only money. Tonight will be another dream of yesterday. PS. She remembers Sticky coated fingers As she tasted each flavour. Licking her fingers now Savouring the memory Leaving a sticky mark in her mind. ![]() ----- First October Days There's a change in the weather That's not even gradual any longer, Instead the finality of an arrival Like the stone dry of winter grass Thick stalks and leathery husks Flying like an old woman's hair As the South-East Arctic wind hits Bringing gusting white Cirrus clouds Instead of warm rain laden Cumulus Clacking a sombre greeting song. ![]() ----- Gift Be thou not a spirit of any night Thou art too much real to be a dream If indeed thou were such a vision Then thy kisses are a drug indeed And well would I a habit of thee make That I would spend all my time abed With kisses of thee and such reverie That Elysium would be a pale shadow And so much splendour would I derive From what seems a simple gift from thee. ![]() ----- I Am The Waves I am the waves that splash down on the sand, Or gentle moonlight that reflects in your eyes; The melody of spring when the earth is reborn, With green shoots and the new-borns cries. All this I offer, if you live in harmony with me, Or else suffer the pain I can cause humankind. I am the storm raging that humbles your might; The earthquake, the avalanche that wakens dread. More than strong enough to destroy any tower, I prove it each day, each month, each year. ![]() ----- Lovers Moon When she said love the first time And the trembling in her words Resting on those oh so grand lips, I wondered, "If only time came and went Forever would be the days be spent Looking at the beauty of the moon". The peace and wonderment attained Feeling united through space and time Is made all the more wondrous Because I’m sharing it with her. ![]() ----- Momus Who was that fiend that stole my soul, And left me with a deep abyss of sadness, That has built an endless dam of tears? In the darkness I hear my inner voices taunts Sneering about the dreams I once held dear. What fate has given, she has also taken away, Savouring the irony of love, becoming loss. Is it punishment for some past transgression, Perhaps atonement for sins as yet unknown Or just one of her cruel jokes? Momus: the daughter of Nyx, and the Spirit of Derision, Sarcasm, and Irony. ----- Questions of Love Is love made of rock, of hard granite stone Heavy and solid, and sometimes a bore? That rock shatters and wears away to sand The constant battering of waves breaking it down Is that what love is and how it degrades. Or is love an illusion of hormones and wishes Where the instinct to breed is only a chore Never receiving anything that was planned Like a superannuation scheme gone wrong And all that's left is the memory of a promise. Real love is nothing like this and never was. Real love is expecting nothing yet giving all Real love is receiving far more than planned And giving back as much and the more Until in the end there is no need to give. True love is a smile, a touch, a special look A look that says everything and doesn't need proof A touch that can arouse or calm the worst fear A smile that warms the cockles of your soul A soul that you now know you both share. ![]() ----- Sombre Lady (Variation) 1. Silent now. Staring at the drizzling rain In a semi-conscious stupor Her misty blue eyes, dry Once filled with teardrops She watched teardrops Fall to the floor Like the raindrops dripping Gravely from gutters In a pitter-patter of bitter memories 2. Sitting almost naked On the cold cordwood floor Futility of hope long abandoned Dry silent sobbing Betraying red eyed torment. The tumultuous circle Several shivering shrinking Shrieking sobbing serenades Angst amidst anguish Of this severe affliction. 3. When attempting to forget, Nothing soothes pain And it’s persistent personality The only implication Being patience Incapable of moving on Unwilling makes unable To simply find another. Other fish in other pools Are not wanted....Yet 4. The process of healing Positively impossible, Stuck in this wet, muddy rut Wanting to move in time Perhaps possibly possible Winding roads of life Once seeming impassable Diverged from misty woods Strange signposts Leading....Where? 5. Now wanting to move Recognising desire Still capable of careful reference Needing emotion, love? Is that so strange? Now, reminiscent of sadness Watching the rain fall again, With misted eyes And whispered breath She simply sighs.... ![]() ----- Vampire Moon Mine is not to pursue, nor is it to entice, But realise a realm exists not of human Where life is not measured in your span And drinking human blood is the rule. Hear the subtle beat of leathered wings And see the silhouette against my light. Too late, you have ventured in my world For up here I can see what misery it brings. Looking down after I see an empty shell One more soul is added to the ranks of Hell. ![]() ----- What have I done? What have I done to her, he thoughtfully asks. I have opened her mind to her emotions Too long hidden, and to tears long unbidden. I have opened her mind to fears once known Dreaded again, because of fear of repetition. I have opened the door to her heart, With a key to a lock that she herself created Wherein she can feel a passion long denied. She can travel to places she has dreamed of And find a love, she always prayed for. ![]() back to list |
