2013 Poetry Form Challenge#06 Pleiades |

This is a relatively new form, it was invented in 1999 by Craig Tigerman, Sol Magazine's Lead Editor. The Pleiades is a star cluster in the Taurus constellation discovered by the Greeks and named the Seven Sisters, Alcyone, Asterope, Celaeno, Electra, Maia, Merope, and Tygeta. The basic form consists of seven lines, each line starting with the same letter as the one word title, and at first no meter or syllable count was specified. Here is an example of that basic form.

NaginiAfter all the struggles Amid this world of pain, And after all the fantasies that, Admittedly, drove me insane, A sense of passion still pursues Among the emotional stains: Always, always, will I love you in vain. ----- Insanity Plea I feel my heart racing In jagged beats, Indicative of him passing. Irritated, I hum a tune In hopes of driving out his Image, but all my efforts lay shattered In vain as fantasy takes the reins.
