#06 Pleiades

This is a relatively new form, it was invented in 1999 by Craig Tigerman, Sol Magazine's Lead Editor.

The Pleiades is a star cluster in the Taurus constellation discovered by the Greeks and named the Seven Sisters, Alcyone, Asterope, Celaeno, Electra, Maia, Merope, and Tygeta.

The basic form consists of seven lines, each line starting with the same letter as the one word title, and at first no meter or syllable count was specified. Here is an example of that basic form.
Free

forget, this plea, for
Freedoms breath, that
Falters now, within my chest, a
Faint, and
Fading beat, I keep, as
Feathers
Fall, I drift to sleep

Sasha Walker

Hortensia Anderson argued that it should be six syllables that represents that nearly invisible nature of one sister. Others argue that it should be seven in that nearly is not complete invisibility and she can be seen. Here is an example of the seven syllable form.
Treasure

Taken for granted by some
Too many times in the past.
The Gods loaned me you just
To treasure for a short while,
Then when it's time, feel free to
Take off back to Heaven, or
Tarry with me some time more.

Ryter Roethicle

Later it was agreed that the one word title be extended to two words or more:
In the night

In the night fires start
Inhaling passion's fire can
Inflame souls forever.
In the night loves heady brew
Intoxicates the mind
Ignorant of reason
In ecstasy abounding.

Ryter Roethicle

Hell

Heal our broken land they sang,
Hear our pleas as we look on
Helplessly as our youth die;
How can we stop the bloodshed?
Hell has claimed the minds of men,
Hearts blackened with evil thoughts,
Heaven help us all they cry.

Stars

Seven Sisters in the sky
Seen by any naked eye
Science calls them the Pleiades,
Subaru's another name;
Soraya too comes to mind
SED, Matariki...
Seven lines of poetry.

Drive-in

Drive-in's been closed forever
Dry leaves scattered recklessly
Dark tar cracking, neglected
De-flowered vacant poles
Devoid of any sounds
Defying ghosts of mem'ry
Developers, - think profit.

-----

Echoes

Echoes are past events
Echoes become memories
Embracing each new life
Enhanced by echoes
Echoes
Embraced by the present
Entrances to Eternity.

-----

Eternity

Eventually we'll meet
Each time will be a refresh
Everyone a lesson
Eventually we'll know
Each time we'll be together
Eternity is our goal
Eternity waits for us.

In this example you'll see whilst I've I've maintained 7 syllables. Using the "First Word" I've created a scheme of a. b. c. a. b. d. d.

-----

Ghosts

Ghosts of past events
Ghosts of memories
Gathering events
Garnering in the mind
Gluttony and desires
Gains exponentially
Greater truth each day.

-----

Hesitation

Hesitate not
Half of time's still Eternity
Heaven with you
Has no semblance
Heaven is you
Hence my desire for
Heaven with you.

-----

Inhospitable

It was looking darker-
In every way
Icy black clouds were forming
I wondered
Is this the place
I want to spend the rest of my life
In.

-----

Juvenile

Just a jacket
Jeans to match
Jersey not needed
Just feeling so cool
Jocose is me.
Join me baby
Just for tonight

-----

Largo

Leave me be
Let me stay here a while.
Languor doth suit me
Long have I waited to
Look at the Sun once more, and
Lo he is there prancing across the sky.
Lady moon is there also...Smiling.

-----

Listless

Leave me be
Let me stay here a while.
Languor doth suit me
Long have I waited to
Look at the Sun once more, and
Lo he is there prancing across the sky.
Lady moon is there also...Smiling.

-----

Paean

Leave me be
Let me stay here a while.
Languor doth suit me
Long have I waited to
Look at the Sun once more, and
Lo he is there prancing across the sky.
Lady moon is there also...Smiling.

Place your hand on my heart
Pheel the
Pulsing you create, each beat
Praising you and love
Pair bonding's now achieved.
Peals of twinkling stars
Pray in thanksgiving,

Scruffy singlet
Stained shift
Stockings laddered
Sexually active

Satisfied.

Soaring

Soaring above the Earth
Seeing her in her glory
Sailing along wind ridges
Seeking currents of hot air
Smiling as the craft rises
Scowling when it hits sink
Sadness on returning.

-----

Sometimes

Sometimes
Sharing is only a wish.
Sometimes
Sharing becomes a dream.
Sometimes from that dream
Scenes are shared
Securing sacred affinity.

-----

Time Knows

Time knows
Time knows I love you
Time has always known it so
Time has forecast what's to be
Time has ne'er denied you or me
Time has promised eternity
Time has promised.

-----

Time (Dementia)

Time takes everything
Too many things are lost
Togetherness and
Tenderness were memories
Taken and destroyed
Today's not a memory
Tomorrow will not stay.

-----

Titanic

Try to follow your own dreams
Trails set by others aren't yours.
Two together as one is good
Two apart wait for disaster.
Too late I realised my way
Too long waiting to be together.
Together we had drawn our path

Amore

As fallen leaves caress
a lovers kiss
Arms entwine like boughs
amidst loves hold
As they drift close together
and touch anew
All that eyes reveal of love.

-----

Artful

All I ever had in this world
And all that I ever needed
A tiny silver sixpenny piece
After all it was never to be
As others needed it more
Apart from being so helpful
Artful fairies took my tooth.

-----

Cantonese Crest

Cannot see thro' misted eyes
Clear upon a mystic mountain
Clouds that hide visions view
Care not what beauty I miss
Casting forth an eastern eye
Come morn' of a foggy dew
Caressing willows beneath.

-----

Chilled

Catch me if I should fall
Cast on top of a mountain
Creator of nil
Cloudy skies of a misty hue
Care not for what I may see
Clearer or not
Chilled from a mountain dew.

Fight not this now, get with it.

-----

Isolated

I shall not feel peace within
Inward I feel much sorrow
If only I was never to be
Isolated from my dreams
Images of what love can do
Irate in what I cannot see
In what ever may lie ahead.

-----

Mesmerized

Many times that I have loved
More than words can ever say
My heart beats only of desire
Mainly because of your touch
Much of the passion you give
Making my needs all the more
Man of my life, love, my all.

-----

Needs

No longer shall I love again
Not within fate or destiny
Nor to walk my paths dreams
Never ending lanes that hurt
Needs shall just have to wait
Nature can go take a hike
Naturally until the next time.

-----

Oblivious

Oh! by the way I saw you
Over yonder in the woodland
Only you never looked at me
Off you were within a dream
Offended thoughts I had
Or maybe it was just me
Orientating as usual.

Pass the parcel kids at play
Pin the tail on the donkey
Place a mask on blind mans buff
Postmen knock for kiss of lore
Pranks that gain special gifts
Piece of eight birthday cake
Piled upon a floor in crumbs.

Pallet and brush that lay aside
Past that was, soon forgotten

Sacred Love

So great is this my need
Such is my desire of love
Softly spoken
Sent to me within dreams
Sensually sublime
Special this love shalt be
Sacred for all eternity.

-----

Simply So

Simple things we really need
Such trifle objects of use
Shall be important to some
Specially to those who abuse
Some that was treasured most
Small hidden not one was amiss
Safely found remains the same.

-----

Taunting

Through the darkness of night
Taunted of vision impaired
Trapped with a sense of fear
The apparition appeared
Try as I might not to run
Tempted in finding out if
This was only imagination.

To live shall not be the same
Time is not forgiving
Things may venture in my mind
That fills an empty space
Trying hard to be set free
Tortures to oblivion
Tears within shall never flow.

Deep inside darkness
Destiny
Denies the path of light
During the night eyes see
Dreams of divine light
Dawning silent in dour skies
Dun clouds depart in moonlight.

Eyes of Green (Rhyming

Ecstasy tarnished with fear
Echoes resonate too fast
Emotions release a tear

Essence of love disappear
Envy keeps old pain alive
Engrossed love cannot survive

The Keyes of Love

Trust

Truth in action speaks loudest
Telling words thoughts cannot say
Tenderness understanding
Taut moments caught in distress
Tensions released before sleep
Takes the hands given in faith
To lead into love's delight

Respect

Reading signs
Rolled beneath a smile
Romantic echoes whisper
Resonating in dreams
Remembering
Reasons hide behind
Reckoning that comes later

-----

Reasonings closeted behind closed eyes
Risque voices venture inwards
Rebuking denials of time and motion
Rasping, grasping, gasping breaths
Rupture silence to survive.

-----

Turning Time

Ticking seconds pass
Tormenting memories of regret
Teasing thoughts into dreams
Triumphant
Trophies overcoming the past
Telling the success stories when
Taking heart in the moment

-----

Whistle

Witing here,
Watching time pass by
Whistling stilted melodies
While wondering, pondering
Will you?
Won't you?
Walk awhile with me

-----

Zero

Zero, a big fat nothing,
Zigzags across silent thought
Zion's promise comes to naught
Zooming past ever faster
Zip here; zip there - all for what?
Zones of confusion reign and
Zap - there is nothing left here!

Always

After all the struggles
Amid this world of pain,
And after all the fantasies that,
Admittedly, drove me insane,
A sense of passion still pursues
Among the emotional stains:
Always, always, will I love you in vain.

-----

Insanity Plea

I feel my heart racing
In jagged beats,
Indicative of him passing.
Irritated, I hum a tune
In hopes of driving out his
Image, but all my efforts lay shattered
In vain as fantasy takes the reins.

Imagination- my pride and
Inevitably my doom, for escape
Is impossible, dreams always reeling,
Inviting me in for a pleasurable treat
I cannot seem to ever
Ignore; left then to claw my way from
Insanity, desperate to be normal again.

-----

Slowly Vanishing

Shining dimly in the night
Sky, perseverance but a
Struggle to ward off the vile
Shadows ebbing existence
So dear to my now fading
Soul, and I become just one
Star among others, alone.

She

She is my dream that's come true
Sailing under skies of her heaven
Sea of conquered hearts divine
Sacred whispers on water mesmerizes
Safely catching me whenever I fall
Sweetly two becomes one on this journey
Saga of passion drowning in ecstasy
