2014 Poetry Form Challenge

#08 Sicilian Septet

Although it wasn't used much by the court until it was fed back from England around the 15th century like the Rima the original version had no set meter. Later in England however, the revised version was formalised to use Iambic Pentameter. The choice is in the minds of the poet. and has a rhyme scheme of:
a. b. a. b. a. b. a.
Here is a lovely example of the form
Masks

Venetian mask show foxy smile on a stick;
in gleaming silk thin eyebrows lift in paint,
heads bob and turn with a pantomimic trick.
Moonshadows and Amantes bow in feint,
as Puccinella's Ghost looks faintly sick-
the Doctor of the Pest has tried to taint
my lady's sweet complexion- he is slick!

Special

Sometimes two souls will cross on life's sojourn,
Like passing ships that pause on open seas;
They feed each other, give and take in turn
As they connect, grow closer by degrees.
Sometimes these moments last, sometimes they burn
Out rapidly, there are no guarantees.
Whichever way, there's something each will learn.

Claims

When grey claims the day
Today becomes shadows of the last
Yesterday holds the bar on display
When memory claims choices cast
Shadows of today pass the hours play
The bar becomes higher than past
When grey claims the day.

-----

Dusk Calls

Though sun has set to slumber
Chirps and calls of birds stay
Happily oblivious to lights gone under
Horizon at its zenith yet flat lay
Between worlds collides lifes wonder
For avians delight is warmer days
And ways allowing life again to occur.

Singers of Spring call to one and all
Now joy is longer days amongst flowers
Nights clover is greener as hours fall
Below wings tucked heads find power
Not from rest but voices raised to call
Mates in yon canopy and bower
Blessing earth again in raucous recall.

-----

Frustration

Where does the pen go to
When all has been said and done
With hands that no longer wield so
Well, but go numb with tingles gone
Up the arm into gothic Poe
Pale feelings frustrate artist lone
Wish to be forever pure and love won.

-----

Hound of Love

Wandering where I only wish to wander
With the love I've found in Eons black seas,
Passing ever onward, racing faster,
The hound marks out loves infinity
On swift breezes, sensing oceans master,
No sweeter times are but moments that flee
Yet remain in thoughts of us and hours.

-----

Lion of Time

Wind buffets and sun glares all around
While the lion of time marches through, soundless
Paws making their passage traceless, unfound.
Clouds swiftly fly and with their passing bless
The heavens, painting white crowns,
Capturing every hue of nature's dress.
Leo watches as love becomes the hound.

-----

Malbec

Sip of the day is very okay
Though lids too heavy prevented muse
From lending her aid this way,
The way towards dreams was a ruse
To open the channels for future say
A new dawn to spill upon pages due
For poet to catch up with display

And yet no poem can be
Complete without a sensual treat
So I shall say how warming she
Took over me in dark chocolate heat
With black cherries sweet and free
An aroma of smooth vanilla is beat
Only by all tastes combined in thee.

-----

Paranormal Poet

Calm as a tortoise on a sunning rock
The night before me sleeps before bed
And I politely decline the prone lock
For locked is the soul without pen read
By the spirits looking over shoulder mock
The way my hand scrawls its lead
A one way ticket back to quills dock.

-----

A Simple Wish

One simple wish is like gold
The more you give it away
A single desire begins to unfold
To replicate itself in others way,
The more you tell it the more it's told
A story starts and ends today,
One simple wish is like gold.

Totem I

Mysterious equine silken black
Crystalline blue eyes looking through
Dark pages of my dreams track
Passing softly as silent winds imbue
Powers unknown coming back
From hidden realms into view
Mysterious as equine silken black.

Totem II

Awareness of free spirit guides thee
Golden morning eyes glowing bright
Piercing nights curtain to see
Mysterious equine shining white
Clouds above earth so free
Gallop fast sparkling diamond lights
Awareness of free spirit inspires thee.

Bach's Cello

I allow the music to flow over me
The deep, dark tones of the cello
It and my soul no longer entities
United by music oh so mellow.
Realising the gift of a Deity and
Unwelcome by those existing below
Flowing oer me like an eternal sea..

Celestial Thoughts

And what of stars, are they so far away
Under them we make our plans and dreams,
We know in time, like us they will decay
And as they cease to shine so do our schemes.
In youth whilst stars shine, we plan and play
Wild things we do, testing to all the extremes
That's when some ne'er see the following day.

Later in life we step out onto more friendly stage
Too late sometimes as one more star blinks out
Vanished just like some ripped out papers page.
But such is life we will ignore the loudest shout.
We survive the day, and in the evening that is age
We look up to the sky, more stars are not about
Having survived so far we are said to be a sage.

-----

Duel

Like Red Riding Hood as she skips along
They bound along joyous paths he's laying
Rich melodies, with a plethora of song,
Sounding deeper from bodies swaying
The mellow cello adds to this throng.
Acoustic, squeaky fast fingers playing
Joyous sounds making us want to belong.

See the dark figure standing over there!
Woodwind responding to him in time
He stands alone, tall, but best beware
As his pipes play they sound so sublime
And people start gathering without a care
He leads the dancing as the tempo climbs
Showing cloven feet they had best beware.

The Violinist shyly lowers her head
She at last realises what they have bought
Her head lowers as she takes the lead
Then as though with second thought
Admirers pick up and follow her thread
Hoping now that Pan has been forgot
Recognising they will follow her instead.

With frantic moves the conductor takes oer
The music moves forward following him
As he slows the pace to an adagio
Like the music, the daylight starts to dim
Weary after playing this demonic score,
Victory now has tired every limb
Eyes closing he slowly sinks to the floor.

Found from lost

I lost my heart to a heart unknown
Hidden deep within my tangled mind
Around which has hard callous bone.
I did not look for love nor expect to find
My mind was set and my heart like stone
And to all temptation I had gone blind.
Now there is one to help me atone.

Waking each day, I feel her within my heart
A special someone who makes me feel whole.
Who once was a stranger and is now a part
A someone with whom I now share my soul
And all my thoughts and feelings I can impart
Now I see that all is well, there's no control
Happily, willingly, I can accept Cupid's dart

I Have Known You

I've known you Peg for a long while
I've made you laugh and made you cry
But mainly trying to make you smile,
And now to us you're waving goodbye.
You made us love you with your style
Of crazy humour in plentiful supply
The oh so easy ways that you beguile.

You have made me laugh and cry to
With frustration cause of alleged wrong
But it was our cultures that were askew
Then soon you'd be singing another song
And everything would be just like new.
Now you've moved where we don't belong
Peggy I really thank you and say adieu.

-----

Just a ghost at midnight

I saw you at midnight, neath a starry sky
Are you a ghost, ever bound to Earth
Or just a soul awaiting your time to fly
Perhaps a soul waiting your next rebirth
I saw white gossamer against your thigh
And flapping wings as if in Heavenly mirth
That caused me to pause and not pass by.

Are you a ghost, that's ever bound to be
Wandering along mossy paths each night
Missed when searching for a love to be
Gathering lovers with each spectral sight
And promising them eternal ecstasy
A night with you would be a lifetimes delight
Creating memories lasting for all eternity.

-----

King of all Beasts

I am what I am, there can be no other way
My will is strong in order to survive
I am still standing at the end of the day
While lesser men hardly know they're alive
And while other men kneel down to pray
Against all odds and down, my spirit will revive
Like the eagle I'll spread my wings and fly away.

For what is man but the ruler of all beasts?
My spear and shield is my mind and will of right
And while Jackals and carrion have a lesser feasts
I win my feed and feast each day by might
While lesser men stir restlessly in their seats.
I close my eyes and sleep throughout the night.
Let it be known, I am the king of all beasts.

Nae Reason

There is nae reason for ye te turn away,
Advance te me and be loved forever
Just promise me ye'll nae say nay
An I promise thee, I'll be thine ever
For true love like ours can ne'er decay
Come tae me saying ye'll leave me never
An I promise ye lassie that I will stay.

There is nae reason for me tae turn away,
Have we nae proved love often and well
Why are ye scared an nae willing tae stay
Without ye my life would turn intae hell
Or let us live an love each day tae day
Until in Heaven we will finally dwell
The ultimate place where we can play.

-----

On Waking

I woke with your breath upon my lips
And those soft lips awakening mine
With pleasure taken from that eclipse
That finally lead to moments so divine.
The encounter from those hours now dips
Them in a more savoury flavoured wine
That now woken I taste upon those lips.

-----

Our Dance

One time our bodies will unite again
We will share things as we did before
Inevitably we will part still but as twain
Then once again, we meet and explore
Bound in the heart on some new terrain
Our lives may be perfect circle we adore
In others take shapes we cannot explain.

We meet for such a little time
Loving and sharing so many things.
Your dreams are they of me sometimes
In a time and place where or love sings
Where love's perfect and bells chime
Is that what this life's lesson brings
The final carrot offered in life's climb.

-----

Poetry

It is the end of the day and it darkens
For a while I revel in that semi darkness
But's time to read the poetry of my friends
Some write of dark and some of happiness.
Tonight I read of stars and then of sirens
How common a theme and also a digress
How common of love and how it blackens.

I read and weep in the sadness that is wrote
I read and laugh and read and laugh again
That is poetry, where the words are a note
Sometimes orchestral, sometimes a refrain
The music is there, sometimes distant, remote.
Occasionally you read it on a different plain
After you've read and read again, you float.

Questions of Love Answered

Enjoy the mystery that the moon inspires,
Walk down paths where you haven't been
Perhaps that will help ignite some fires
Where true love and peace may be seen
And may also satiate your bodies' desires.
Some moonlight walks can reveal a scene
To where all soul love aspires.

Even though you paint a thousand acts
That will cover over a million deeds
And write an eternity of loving tracks
Until the final days are fulfilled needs.
Loves permutations are full of contrasts
Love spirals down like wind blown seeds
And only fate is aware how long it lasts.

You must take your heart in your hand
Surrendering all to love completely
In return it may offer all that you demand
Creating your life and dreams so sweetly
Or change things in way never planned
Providing happy solutions so neatly
At least leaving you able to understand.

-----

Quiet Thoughts

You have become a presence in my mind.
I do not like it, for no longer is my mind free
My thoughts once controlled and simple kind.
Instead, my waking time is taken up with thee
Wandering off in spaces that leave me blind
Thinking of things that I would like to be,
Or the way our souls around each other wind

In my minds eye I can see you everywhere
Each waking moment into my mind you climb
With thoughts so different to what was there.
Now it is so natural to think that I'm
Thinking about someone for who I care
Someone to me who's made my life sublime
Someone who once again makes me dare.

Seasons

Autumn

I've always loved the early autumn
With its dying leaves of gold and brown
And so life carries on ad infinitum
It's now a time of rest for all that's grown
The fallen leaves scattered on the lawn
A crinkled patchwork eiderdown.
Soon to Earth a time of sleep will come

She is wearing now a drab nightgown
See some beasts preparing their home
Busy gathering what summer has grown
Then no longer will they search or roam
Fast asleep, waiting till winter has flown
I've always loved the early autumn
With its dying leaves of gold and brown

Winter at the Maribyrnong

Whittering white waves come crashing down
Marking their passage leaving darker patches
Blacker reflections on light grey dappled stone
Crashous liquid sound over sounds arches.
Further upriver it has finally quietened down
Innocent of signs of the recent crazy debacles
Water 'stead of clear, still shows cloudy brown.

An out of season, dancing water spider leaps
And silently skips on the flotsam in the stream
Rafting upon leaf after leaf in futile sweeps
Finally frustrated and tired, just lays in a dream.
Higher tide and further upriver it now creeps
All seems at peace, a peaceful morning it seems
Until at last the rivers upward flow now peaks.

An Indian Myna bird watches with speculation
Sits looking at the offered feast for a while
Then dives forward snatching the offered ration
As the leaf hits a calmer stretch of rivers file
Flying away to the tree his family now lives on
Loudly boasting and if 'twas possible see a smile
But by this, is able to wish all worries "begone".

-----

Rituals of Spring

It is the time for birds of every kind,
Hearken to them now as they rejoice.
Adapting to problems created by mankind,
Mating rituals begin, they make their voice.
Tis now the cyclist I had best remind
And his urban journeys taken with choice.
It is the time of Magpie attacks from behind,

The winged strikes, on turned back.
The Magpie is just one within the crowd.
Birds are thieves and in building their shack
And on completion boast their crimes out loud
Taking what they desire and prepared to attack.
No shame or morals will ever see them cowed
Nature rules, they are trained and have the knack.

-----

Sounds of Summer

Sounds of summer are surrounding me
It is not peaceful anymore.
Birdsongs drowned by a mowing grand prix
And the angry slamming of car doors.
Hear drunken rantings at a revelry
Arguing about the cricket score.

I'm not being anti social with my needs
I've had a demanding week.
I've had students delayed by deeds
My stress has reached a peak.
I flew from Brisbane and I'm fatigued
Now tranquillity is all I seek.
I do not want all these noisy proceeds.

-----

Units of Love

Heaven is the kiss that never dies
Sadness is a dream that doesn't live
Worst is the feeling of loves demise
Pleasure is the feeling when you give
Your heart, knowing how well it flies.
Love is always never having to forgive
And true love is never a compromise.

Music is the joined beating of two hearts
Sometimes a fast dance more often slow
Then there is a dirge when lovers part
Longing, the feeling that all lovers know
Not long the message wished to impart.
Watching hours as days so slowly go
A speedometer again when meeting starts.

Fingers are movements down your spine
Happiness your touch discovering my face
Possession is three words, "You are mine"
Contentment is the long arms that embrace
And hearing quiet whispers "I am thine".
Another kiss and the heart begins to race
The smile, the eyes saying all is fine.

-----

Usual Dung

Love is wasted on the young
As is many other lovely things.
Too impatient and quick with tongue
To appreciate what true love brings
As they climb casually up each rung
One small slip and their telephone rings
Asking to extract them from the dung.

-----

Vagabond Heart

No more will I feel your body against mine
Your soft, gentle touch always aroused fire
The bed's now empty, no comfort will I find
For your pleasure, I always tried to aspire.
Your kisses spun my mind, like vintage port wine.
Now the doona's laid back, sheets cold and bare
Cold memories remain of things that were fine.

One thing's this feeling on which we'd dwell
Searching in my mind why it should be so.
The clock we cursed for moving so well
Now crawls so slower than a snail should go.
I'm starting my first day sentenced to hell
Without the loving, that made my sun glow
Now all that left is a sky like an empty shell.

-----

Waking Sky

Who has not enjoyed the midnight sky
Breathing freely in it's warm autumn air
Had not feelings like possessed of flight
And felt free wind blow through their hair?
Been entranced looking at stars on high
And aroused feelings, becoming aware
That to be without you I would rather die

Who's not revelled under the midnight sky
Listening entranced by the singing stars
With the full silvered moon smiling on high
And flapping shadows cast by sleeping galahs?
Creating a magic winds with a silken sigh
The moon in Venus lighting the morn is ours
And with a smile waves us goodbye.

-----

Xenobiotic

I have found myself, not that I was lost
More that I was tangled in the web of life
The spider of that life made me pay the cost
And just in time I was able to use a knife
To free myself, the thought uppermost
And with that freedom escaping all strife
My mind's free now carrying no impost.

Now that I'm free I'll get back on my path
Even though it's autumn I will still have time
And change my Fate and all it's wrath
For I was an alien living in a foreign clime
In an icy world where all was an aftermath.
Now a world where smiles and love are fine
I can greet the morn and enjoy each breath.

-----

Yearning for the night

The poignancy of my memory
Is acute as I see the night begin
My lover's spirit returns to me
As soon as darkness closes in.
I know my loneliness is meant to be
But I still miss your happy grin
So in a glass of port I find sanctuary.

With music, or port, or a glass of wine
Seeing faces and events from the past
And little things that said, your mine.
Making promises that love would last
Sometimes with certainty I imagine
That our next meeting has also past
Then dream again of events so fine.

-----

Zero Promises

Who has not enjoyed the midnight sky
Breathing freely in it's warm autumn air
Had not feelings like possessed of flight
And felt free wind blow through their hair?
Been entranced looking at stars on high
And aroused feelings, becoming aware
That to be without you I would rather die

Who's not revelled under the midnight sky
Listening entranced by the singing stars
With the full silvered moon smiling on high
And flapping shadows cast by sleeping galahs?

Zinfandel and More

Tonight let's have a drinking race
Fill the tankard with wine that's soured
Without your love no clock has a face.
Competition in jars shall be what's scored
My feet's far too leaded to stand the pace
Life's bitter brew my cup's o'erflowed
Memory still stays I cannot ever erase.

Pour down the wine let us drink to forget
Un-lived dreams litter the path I now walk
Plans made in good faith, caused only sweat
Once loving conversations are now just talk
With pleasured gifts now nought but a debt
All thoughts of love's pleasure I now baulk
Overcome by wine I'm still with loss beset

An Unlikely Tale

I walk ahead aimlessly but to where
there is no road that lays before me
but an old cart path beyond repair
yet I knew not where this might be
lost in a time warp I became aware
spirits of the past had to break free
was it I the haunted within despair.

I float aimlessly yet make no sound
yet I felt no touch nor breath of life
saw no shadow`s on a grave mound
I felt not of pain, sorrow or of strife
for death shall ever revolve around
awakened spirits that renders rife
that may not ever be free or bound.

They say that death itself is freedom
when pain and sorrow disappears
within a heavenly angelic kingdom
there shall never be demonic fears
that may tease and taunt at random
no more days months or even years
for my appearance shall be seldom.

-----

Beast Verses Humanity

Let thy spirit protect within thy fold
what they fear shall not be of beast
cast no shadow neath a moon so bold
future existance may not be released
no return to the past as in days of old
what was once, shall soon be deceased
humanity shall then not be controlled.

Let wolves howl at the moon by night
territorial instinct may not be shared
for out of the pack wolves shall fight
spirits of the wise which nature fared
shall unite with man when time is right
but time has past and fangs hath bared
humanity within greed just never cared.

Life`s survival may ever be protective
whether it shall be of beast or of man
to work together may not be instinctive
survival of the fittest since life began
shall not within ego be very distinctive
it was never part of their natural plan
that may remain to this day as negative.

-----

Brig o'Doon

I walked the glens tae the Brig o'Doon
time stood still within bracken of auld
I saw nae vision of an auld witch croon
that haunted a Scottish bard sae bold
when on his way frae a drunken spitoon
nor did I see a nags tail as folk lore told
'twas lost within bracken`neath a moon.

Meg she was his staunchy auld mare
so used tae his auld drunken rambles
tho' tailess she knew he had his share
so dismounted him onto thee brambles
prickly thorns course thistles lay bare
that auld Meg nor he could unscramble
aye an' thistles are nae worst for wear.

I still walk the glens still I could hear
pipes are calling a bold scottish bard
though dayes past I still seek him here
for times within mind may e'er be hard
o' the way he was, so fu' of guid cheer
bearing thee scar fro' a thistles shard
a ghostly feature to this daye appears.

-----

Cattle Drovers Lady

A lady I am not, yet a lady I can be
a dedicated follower of a fashion
yet I can also be fanciful and free
to love gentlemen within my passion
a city slicker is not the one for me
stiff upper lip with smiles on ration
but a real man may unlock the key.

I feast my eyes upon a cattle drover
strong within body yet soft of heart
mean yet gentle my wandering rover
he shall love my all and ne-er depart
to roll me over in a pasture of clover
shall be for me a mighty good start
if I be the lady to entice him over.

-----

Cock And Bull Inn

It is ladys night at the cock and bull inn
clad in finery of white linen and lace
many an old tale they shall tell therein
of which is pure and who may disgrace
tittle tattle of gossip shall speak of sin
that perfect ladies shall never deface
but to flutter a fan may disguise a grin.

For ladies must be ladies and so demure
they shalt never cast shadows asunder
when in good company remain as pure
it shall dishonour their purity to plunder
that nought but perfection shall but cure
to remain a lady shall be so beyond her
if she falters from grace with the brewer.

But then this shall be a ladys night after all
ladies may be ladies when the time is right
just to make sure that pride does not fall
she awaits darkness that converts to night
It is then that her pride may be upon call
if temptation is out of mind and of sight
consequences is taken whatever befalls.

-----

Cursed Dreams

Shadows of the night haunt my mind
who once lived so many years past
many disbeliefs of a roman mankind
yet evidence they had left amassed
revealed within a presence confined
within a darkened tomb unsurpassed
t'was there in my dreams left behind.

Broken armoury from a roman battle
of swords and visas that rusted away
rusted chains that may never unravel
old roman coins within dire disarray
stashed within old crumbled gravel
upon future times shall find this day
what was once gone may not unbevel.

Cast thine eyes not within thy force
let Roman spirits sleep within peace
'tis all that remains of past remorse
let not this greed of riches increase
spirits may return within discourse
if greed of the past shall not cease
spirits within dreams may resource.

-----

Easter Blues

My muse has gone and left me all alone
I have no more words to think of at hand
I cannot even answer my own telephone
maybe I should bury my head in the sand
all that I can think of has been and gone
this was not what I exactly had planned
but easter is the worse I had ever known.

Even easter bunny shall not do the trick
tho' however cute and fluffy he might be
I need some instant remedy now real quick
but 'tis only hope shall set this muse free
maybe something deep inside me shall click
or it may be prose was never so simply me
then however should I have been so thick.

-----

Eternal Love

I desire you for all eternity,
no more, our feelings hide,
for we both share an entity
true love, not to be denied,
together, we have an affinity
of our heart, and soul inside.
until, we reach our true ability.

It`s those special things you say,
and all the caring things you do
makes me cherish you this way,
and why, I`m yearning just for you
I love you more, each passing day
know, you feel the same way too,
within depths, misty eyes portray.

-----

Etude

Our love is but, a moment in time,
in far off lands, of lovers fantasy
maybe soon, will one day be mine
to experience, true loves ecstacy,
how sweet the note of love sublime
sensuality, with a frenzy, of lunacy.
where ignorance, would be a crime.

A warm embrace, when we make love
thrills of being close, in soul and mind,
no stars are shimmering high above,
but deep in your eyes, and you in mine,
brief encounters are remembered of
passionate feelings, with love divine.
held dear, in two loving hearts thereof.

-----

Fishermans Daughter

I am only a fishermans daughter
that is what my mother told me
I was led like lamb to slaughter
to gather muscles by the sea
steeped in a pail of briny water
but I slipped and set them free
to the jaws of a deep sea otter.

Cast thy nets within another ocean
I shall ne-er be a sister to another
there is no harm in loves devotion
If thy off spring shall be a brother
born of thy preconceived emotion
or may it be twins borne together
I shall vanish 'fore the commotion.

Time shall only tell what I may do
perhaps I shall just tie up my hair
there's many sailor, more than few
why should it be me that shall care
so father my dear if you only knew
there is more than enough to share
that shall only take two to pursue.

-----

Forever Love

I am a mere mortal no more no less
yet I make myself become invisable
within mystic power time shall bless
what I accomplished Is not available
cast asunder within myself I digress
tho' inspiration is hardly replaceable
words are all I now need to reassess.

Mortified when all I ever achieve fails
condemnation within all I strive to do
abandoned dreams of success impails
no matter how much I tried to pursue
rather like a ship that never set sails
I rest my case for there is nothing new
for I have spared most of the details.

-----

Frayed Emotions

I am a mere mortal no more no less
yet I make myself become invisable
within mystic power time shall bless
what I accomplished Is not available
cast asunder within myself I digress
tho' inspiration is hardly replaceable
words are all I now need to reassess.

Mortified when all I ever achieve fails
condemnation within all I strive to do
abandoned dreams of success impails
no matter how much I tried to pursue
rather like a ship that never set sails
I rest my case for there is nothing new

-----

How It All Began

Ne-er cast a shadow full upon the moons light
Within darker obscurations of a full eclipse
Concealing spirits that rise forth unto night
May well be the coming of the apocalypse
No longer shall this skyline remain as bright
All heavenly stars above shall face a relapse
Hence not a thing on earth shall ever be right.

Thus were the beliefs of lifes presentation
Of men that dwelt within stone clad caves
With no technology they lacked motivation
Instincts that changed within the tidal waves
For their inborn wisdom of past realization
Looked to the future when love was the rave
To conceive the birth of the next generation.

-----

Oceanic Siren

Siren of dreams from loves emotion
cast thy spell upon a rippling stream
that floats across the deep sea ocean
for thy love shall be all that it means
shed thy net with heart felt devotion
'tis waves of passion that intervenes
unto a weakness of thy sailors notion.

Siren of the ocean come hither nigh
come grant the desires they bestow
of an inner passion that softly sighs
unto the wavelets of an oceanic flow
lovers spirits shall haunt the skies
it is now true love's hearts may show
within the depths of the oceans rise .

Sing thee of the oceans mystic waves
haunted spirits within a deep sea bed
that shall echo from a mermaids cave
and arise from the souls of the dead
of bygone days from a watery grave
to rest where mermaids cannot tread.
for weakness of passion thou deprave.

Quill To Parchment

I sat at my desk mind in a trance
there was not a lot I could portray
for muse this day may not enhance
past memories that could fade away
no natural instinct left to advance
naught that lingers to be led astray
for I against Byron stand no chance.

Often words shall become resigned
lines within stanza may never grow
but muse shall awaken again to find
words to compose clearly upon show
regardless of whats lost within mind
love shall always be a reason to flow
but a broken quill shall never bind.

Scattered ink stains ruled the page
to do more damage within justice
this was never the works of a sage
yet I bare myself no more malice
well past the coming of another age
I shall celebrate life with a chalice
for the brand new quill I upstage.

Spinner Of Yarn

Within past years of ancient times
shepherds watched sheep at night
for fleece was shorn within crime
poor mans future was never bright
'twas better than work in the mine
but to bask within the moons light
shall suit a shepherd in his prime.

To spin a yarn I show no restraint
for it rests on the turn of a wheel
within blessed patience of a Saint
when the bobbin is even on keel
then wheel may show no restraint
but a sensative treadle shall feel
compliant within past and quaint.

Treasures like this are rarely used
times past are now all forgotten
the fleece of a sheep now abused
not the same as synthetic cotton
which was never to be confused
by the ancient spinners besotten
may not in the future be amused.

Voice Of Wisdom

I who am lost within the play of word
cast no shadows upon an empty mind
for my memories of speach are blurred
I within force shall be of another kind
of wisdom that shall not be deferred
for a flightless bird is very hard to find
without wings to fly shall be deterred.

Cast no image of what thy cannot see
speak with thy quill upon parchment
all shall be revealed twixt thee and me
within a premeditated accomplishment
that only within harmony shall set free
when words of rhyme are not of lament
'Tis then shalt thy fly and contented be.

When

When the clouds gather to weep,
when ravens fly home, to their nest,
when all the rivers flow so deep,
when dove`s have gone to rest,
when only then dear shall I keep,
my head laid upon your chest,
when we both lay down to sleep.

When harp strings, haunt the night,
when sweet harmony, is musical bliss,
when all the stars, that shine so bright,
when your eyes, the dewdrops kiss,
when bodies entwine, you hold me tight
more than ever, true love does exist
when we cherish our moments delight.

Whirlwind Whistler

Loud shall the windstorm whistle nigh.

thro' clouds that mask a path to the sun
violent whirlwinds that shield the sky
shall never cease until its time is done
whirlwind the whistler rushes on by
but with Golden Tress he is never alone
the breathe of a maiden may ever sigh.

They cast no shadows beneath on earth
for spirits of nature shall never outlast
a storm from the greatest upper berth
that the future catastrophies had cast
violent storms from south unto north
whirlwind the whistler carried her past
as rebirth of love beckoned them forth.

Strong the winds that blew from above
within a journey that never shall end
but they remain within power of love
natures catastrophes shall now defend
the power of justice that lovers wove
violence of nature may calmly amend
within myths of loves heavenly cove.

Beethoven's Muse

The passion of piano keys plays her beams,
to touch the darkened Earth with sacred light,
at city limits, I embrace her dreams,
as summer calls this festive Sabbat night
when Beltane voices sing to moonlit streams,
my thoughts of love that bring you to my sight,
a sonata echoes her silver gleam.

Hells Wreath

Bewitching spells that preyed upon my mind,
a mind enslaved and sold for vengeful creed.
A creed of hate with no remorse to unwind
the curses wound in blood so they may feed.
I'm fed with sin, to fate I am resigned,
resign my life in sacrificial deed,
a deed of covenant where vampires bleed.

No blood red rose shall mark the place I lie
I'm laid in this unconsecrated ground.
A groundless penance yet still I must die
as death awaits the kill of his hellhound
The snarling hounds deafen my helpless cry
my crying heart recoils to freedom found,
I find my soul, released from earth, can fly.

The Kaiserin

Bavarian beauty, she reigned as queen,
Sisi her name, had no love for the court,
with grace and beauty she captured a scene,
a free spirit her courtiers couldn't thwart,
as hearts were won, where ever she was seen,
the horse her choice of favoured riding sport,
Sisi became the German Kaiserin.

The youthful bride when history was made,
yet death still came and stole her beloved son,
In Mayerling, the place suicide played.
So dressed in black of mourning, still she shone
as fate lay wait with an assassin's blade,
to pierce her heart under September's sun
the socialite of beauty slipped to shade.

Septet of Annfwn

Beneath the sun my pen will write a wreath,
the wreathing words composed amid this rhyme.
In rhymes that flow from silver ink stained sheath,
unsheathed the tears reflect a bardic crime,
a crimson bell that tolls across the heath
below the heathen lands there is no time,
as time shall cease as Annfwn slips beneath.

Sitting on the Staircase

I'm sitting on the staircase waiting here,
just waiting hoping time will pass by me,
until your key unlocks my heart with cheer.
I'm sat here watching spaces with nowt to see,
and dream that you will come and hold me near,
for with my darling close then I am free,
in love that sings your name I long to hear.

Thank You for being a muse

Thank you for being a muse in the night
when I sit in the shadows with no clue
of what my pen should on this paper write.
A theme of thought can show the ink what's true
and words they come in flowing lines, right?
Block came knocking my door I turned to you
to shed a little light on this dark night.

Insanity

Our sunny Queen's Day's festive mood is gone.
Four dead, five more still struggle for their life;
when people were struck down, fell on the lawn,
one moment of insanity brought strife.
Aiming to hit our Royals, sense withdrawn,
a car cut through the crowd like a sharp knife.
Blood paints the pavement- four will see no dawn.

-----

Mirrors

I'm looking in my mirror to connect
once more with whom I know I really am.
I feel at ease with what my eyes reflect,
as peace within accepts, does not condemn.
Though life has known its ups and downs, respect
and gratefulness are my most precious gems,
the love I see flows freely and unchecked.

-----

Thoughts

My thoughts are caught within a winding maze
where thorny hedges try to catch my frock.
What happened to those bright and sunny days,
when even with closed eyes, I safely walked?
The evening air is chilling, gone's the blaze
of summer love that opened secret locks;
a pale blue moon sends down her pallid rays.

-----

Weeding

As fingers search and follow hidden roots,
I feel each little knot upon its trail;
thin filaments escape and find new routes
to strangle tender plants- so growth might fail.
Unearthing bishop's weed, I remove shoots,
protect young saplings that are still too frail
to withstand creepers, before they'll bear fruit.

The earth is dark and soft, holds life within;
it smells of wood and bark, long since decayed.
I feel the coolness of an earth-worm's skin-
disturbed by weeding, he escaped my spade.
I watch as tiny creatures curl and spin-
at least two dozen little legs parade
towards the upturned soil, saved from the bin.
