LONG MEASURE

This is a variation of Common Measure, and consists of three rhymes of iambic tetrameter, (4 feet). This gives a suggested pattern of:

x x x x x x x a
x x x x x x x b
x x x x x x x c
x x x x x x x b

Alone

Have you ever really felt alone,
In a room crowded, with people
With the buzz of conversation,
Ignored, flowing over your head?

Have you ever really felt alone,
With someone lying next to you,
And you don't really feel her there,
When you belong to someone new.

Have you ever had to carry on,
That nothing seems to be amiss
And yet your mind is miles away
To where your heart still exists.
