Short Measure
This is a variation of Common Measure, and consists of three lines of iambic
trimeter, (3 feet), and the inclusion of one line of tetrameter, (4 feet).
This gives a suggested pattern of:
x x x x x a
x x x x x b
x x x x x x x a
x x x x x b

Slainte
To water down a drink
is sometimes a request;
yet what a waste, I often think
when strongest form is best.
To savor every sip
becomes a long life goal.
For quality, one mustn’t skip
elixir for the soul.
Short measure does add up,
as threes, one four, complete,
so if or when you pour a cup,
make sure that mine is neat.
