All That I Am....Blank Verse Sonnet Vast is the sea that carries me forth From inland cliffs thro' ocean waves Awash with emotion towards my fate Here at the foot of the deep sea bed I am none other than a pebble. Down I float within a darkened abyss Where I cannot see speak nor hear Nor see the sun moon nor stars above Nor shall I breathe the salt sea air For I am only a grain of sand Here do I lay so long now forgotten From past turmoil 'neath the sea bed I that has survived the great storms But all that I am is driftwood. |
