Love In Victorian Times....Rosarian Sonnet Time hath no pleasure when lovers meet A kiss on the cheek was to be discreet Only when promised and truly betrothed They oft times arranged for a chaperone For they were not ever to be left alone; A hansome Carriage for her would call Mother chaperone with coachman and all Plunged neckline with cape she was clothed Not a moment was she with he to be free But would dance at the ball for all to see; The orchestra had played a slow minuet Dancing apart when only finger tips touch The only close contact they had as such Oh! that wonder they shalt ne-er forget. |
