No Sound Was Heard....Reverse Ottava Rima Sonnet 1 I heard no sound in the trees today The birds were silent as they mourned And the wind did not disturb in any way. The death of winter was forewarned Its struggle will always be to stay But death, and dark, and cold is scorned. No sound was heard in the trees today, It didn’t mean that nature had gone away. I heard no sound in the trees today The pains of spring’s birth ease for awhile, But the signs are that it is on its way. The northerly winds will make a trial. And magpies swooping their human prey In the end will serve to make us smile. |
