Depression....John Tee sonnet

Life lost her lustre as dark days drag on,
laughter and fondness seem gone, on a strike,
what's left are harsh words, reproaches galore.
Coldness is reigning as distance augments,
grey clouds enshroud flowers, birdsong sounds numbed.
While ledges narrow, the abyss gapes wide,
life lost her lustre as dark days drag on,
laughter and fondness seem gone, on a strike.
We are like hedgehogs, too prickly to touch,
could we but lay down our needles, feel free,
at peace with each other, arguments stilled,
then colour and laughter would be restored.
Life lost her lustre as dark days drag on,
laughter and fondness seem gone, on a strike.
