Closing the rift?....John Tee Sonnet Why can't we close that rift between us now? Each day new arguments keep us apart. you treat me like a pupil, not your wife, with you the teacher, always knowing best. It hurts me when you say I mope and sulk, toddlers do it when they don't get their way. Why can't we close that rift between us now, each day new arguments drive us apart. I cannot start each morn as if brand-new, as I am still digesting words you said; my memory works differently from yours, you easily forget unpleasantness.
