Ivor Hogg

I.O.U....Ivorian Sonnet

By night the moon will light our way.
The sun provides our light by day
Without a light we cannot see
and stumble blindly in the dark
to get to where we want to be.
Though other senses may assist.
it is our eyes we use the most
When night and darkness still persist
and we discover we are lost.
We need a sign that we can see,
a beacon which will guide our way,
A certain symbol that will mark
our passage through the mirk and mist.
For which we’ll gladly pay the cost.
