Rhupunt

The next few days Challenge is the Rhupunt. This form consists of three, four, or five, lines, of four syllables: A. A. A. B. The next stanza rhymes: C. C. C. B. and so on. It will be seen that the last lines of each stanza rhyme.

Be warned, it's not an easy project to produce a good smooth flowing poem. Here is an example of a three line Rhupunt.

This is the end,
Love will not mend,
I'll walk away.

I cannot lie,
I watch you cry,
I cannot stay.

By adding an extra line to each stanza, there is the four line Rhupunt.
This is the end,
Love will not mend,
Don't condescend,
I'll walk away.

I cannot lie,
I watch you cry,
My eyes are dry
I cannot stay.

Or one more line for a five liner
This is the end,
Love will not mend,
You're not my friend,
Don't condescend,
I'll walk away.

I cannot lie,
I watch you cry,
My eyes are dry,
This love has died,
I cannot stay.

It is quite common with this form, to join the lines together and end up with the two stanzas making a line each. The Rhupunt long would look like this:
X X X A X X X A X X X A X X X B
X X X C X X X C X X X C X X X B

Following Shadows

I followed you
where shadowed hue
of silence falls.

Where twilight gleams
where all it seems
is echoed calls.

Swaddled in Myst

I wandered there
through hazy fare
until laid bare
in hallowed halls.

I stood alone
chilled to the bone
a gathered stone
in silken shawls.

Dance of Love

Silk lingerie, in dancerís sway, such disarray fills loveís embrace.
A waltzing gown, it cascades down, two lovers drown in folds of lace.
Without attire, such strong desire find hearts on fire, so oft the case.
Asleep they drift in slumberís shift, a peaceful gift, this state of grace.
As dawn awakes, his leave he takes, with heartbeat aches, an empty place.
But love is strong, he heeds its song, he knows belong, his steps retrace.

Avian Wishes

Look in the sky,
birds, flying high,
saying goodbye,
it's winter time.

Wishes from me,
things cannot be,
I am not free,
but love's no crime.

Envy the bird,
his song is heard,
he roams the world,
singing his song.

We cannot sing,
here's where we cling,
where pain we bring,
we don't belong.

Edavile Ghost Train

Luther Casey
Jones, you will see
And James Brody
Fast mails to doom
Casey's record run
nearly was done
like crack of gun
Caboose did loom
Brody behind
time; on the line
just flying blind
air brakes were gone
coming down grade
engineer prayed
the fireman stayed
funeral gong
empty main rail
alive to tale
children regale
barely sane song
dark night, depot
headlight's far glow
everyone knows
of the ghost train
faint sound: pistons
pounding like drums
what yonder comes
out of the night
Brody and Jones
rattle of bones
whistle it moans
evening of fright
platform silent
quiet is rent
steam from a vent
drivers, they shriek
faces whiter
ghost at throttle
fear in bottle
ghoulish rattle
light grows brighter
in fear, they grow
each one does know
demons will show
as it flies through
car wheels clatter
people scatter
manic patter
skeleton crew
no train is due
but coming through
switchman turns blue
semaphores seesaw
ear-bursting sound
light all around
shaking of ground
fear's pitch and yaw
grate burning red
fireman has fed
groans of the dead
raven's dark caw
steam is screaming
nightmare dreaming
ghouls are teeming
doom clanging bell
wail of the whistle
Satan's epistle
charging missile
railroad to Hell
Great rush of air
nothing is there
fear is the fare
pounding of heart
Here's the matter
come distant chatter
phantom's clatter
Ghost train departs.

Let it Fall

So, let it fall: and best off all, be in the thrall of laws of fate
Essence of time, force you to climb, turn on a dime and compensate

Live by the truth, don't lose your youth, don't be uncouth, grow as you must
Bearings need oil, lifestyle needs toil, don't act the foil, move on like dust

Get what you need, put down your seed, succumb to greed, gather in worth
Don't use a crutch, keep out of Dutch, don't eat to much, or swell your girth

Watch things you say, sanity each day, kneel down to pray, live the moment
Keep on the hop, need never stops, blood pressure drops, stay on one bent

Give kids candy, be a bit randy, also be handy, yield to the call
Live your whole life, and avoid stife, cautions are rife, so let it fall!.

In my Heart

One red rose grows
Where no one knows
Here in my heart

It will remain
Always the same
A peaceful part
